Foster Puppies!!!

This coming Saturday we are getting 2 foster dogs dropped off at our house!  We are volunteering as a foster home for the rescue group who we got our puppy Molly from.  One of the pups is staying here until we find him a "forever home" and the other one is staying here for 5 days because she already has a home lined up, but the people will be on vacation until the 26th and she is coming in on the 21st.

The puppy who we have for 5 days is a special one - her name is Emma and she is a beagle puppy.  She was found in Tennessee bleeding to death in a ditch - someone shot her in the back and left her there to die.  Luckily she was found in time, and this rescue group brought her to a hospital and saved her life.  She's paralyzed from the waist down because of the damage to her spine that the bullett caused, but she doesn't let it slow her down.  Her new home has a little doggie wheelchair waiting for her here and she'll be spoiled for the rest of her life to make up for what happened to her.  If you want to read about Emma's story you can do so here - http://kesalerno.googlepages.com/home

Thanks!  I think it will be a ton of fun.  I mean, caring for Emma will be a little more difficult than caring for a "normal" dog, but she's worth it.  I figure if the family has stepped up to adopt her can care for her for the rest of her life, I can do it for 5 days, right?!

Last night we had a party/BBQ here with lots of friends over and many of them brought their dogs, it was a ton of fun!  I think there were a total of 6 dogs here during the night, it was a madhouse!!  Then when all the dogs left, my 2 pups walked around whining for a few minutes, looking for their friends.  It made me realize that fostering will be awesome, they'll have extra dogs here to play with, we'll feel good about being able to play a part in helping these dogs find a family...everyone wins :smile:

Thanks Man!  When I was younger I used to volunteer at the local animal shelter and I always wished I had my own house so that I could bring them home and help them find homes.  Now I'm just happy that I actually can :smile:  I already have my eye on the next pup I want  to foster after this round...his name is Rocky and he's a shepherd mix puppy.  He looks a lot like my dog Molly, I think that's why I like him so much!

Emma and Irish are here, yay!  Emma is such a little sweetie, I don't know how anyone could do this to her.  We've got her set up in her new little wheelchair/scooter thing and I think she likes it. 

I think Irish is 1/2 lab 1/2 greyhound - hes got a lab looking face, and a greyhound body, he's gorgeous!  We were so busy fussing over getting Emma set up and comfortable that we didn't notice for a while that Lucy, Irish and Molly were being WAY too quiet....we went out to see what was up and Irish had gotten into a bag of Wendy's that my fiance brought home, and ate not 1, but 2 large orders of fries :lol:
