trying to burn a dvd
    #6777896 - 04/12/07 02:45 AM (17 years, 9 days ago)

my friend has windows vista...

he used the dvd ripper provided by vista to copy a dvd of 300 to his harddrive....

the rip made like 7 driferent files 4 of which were the actual movie.

when he trys to burn the files onto a dvd one of the files says it is 26 hours long and won't fit.

is there anyway to fix this?

sounds to me that that's probably just a by-product of shite software
(like - some sort of security bullshit that's been added to prevent piracy)

I would imagine there's probably at least one freeware product out there that won't do that
(I don't have a DVD burner myself though, so I couldn't tell ya for sure on this one)

scrounge twocows or something...yer bound to come across *something*

Tell him to use DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink (both are free) and he will be able to burn ANYTHING.  The only one problem he might run in with those is that Sony takes an extra step in trying to abolish piracy in which he should also download AnyDVD which will rid the extra protections (he can get this for free too if he goes to isohunt.com )

They all work on XP SP2 for me just fine. EDIT: And thus *should* work on Vista.

DVDDecrypter decodes the copy protection and copies the dvd files (.vob is the data and .ifo tells the player how to use it) to the hard drive. make sure you have around 6-8GB free and then use Auto Gordian Knot (google it) to convert it to an .avi to watch on your computer or any dvd burning program to reburn it.

DVDShrink is an expedited way to do it, as it decodes and compresses the files and stores them on your hard drive temporarily before it burns them to a regular DVD+-R.

Just depends on whether you'd rather have the DiVX/XViD .avi on your computer (DVD Decrypter) or the DVD to watch (DVD Shrink).

And yes, in the off chance there's a problem, AnyDVD is great for cleaning things up.
