Shoulder workouts
    #6727411 -

just curious about any you weightlifterss shoulder routines

im trying to build mass, i think im gonna start doin them twice a week instead of once, mon + fri

i usually do 4x6-8 of seated db press
3x8-10 db lateral and front raises
3x8-10 rear deltoid raises
3x6-8 upright db rows

db shrugs till my forearmss give out

and then a bunch of high pulls with a dumb bell

(or something like that, i am still playing around with the reps)

i am a skinny guy, but im puttin up 50 lbs on the presses, and rows

figure if i did this twice a week, i'd mix it up with more barbell stuff

I would suggest checking out

for a good plan of attack at adding some bulk. I use it and it is the best/easiest way that I have found to add muscle volume. The author also provides resources and studies that he bases his methods on.

you should invest in a pair of wrist straps. I don't know if you've ever seen them, but they simply loop around your wrist, then you wrap the excess strap tightly around the bar. So when you lift, the wrap instantly tightens at your wrist and removes at least 50% of the load from your hands/forearms, allowing you to shrug a lot longer. They aren't expensive at all...

I found some cheap Everlast straps for only $6, and they're working surprisingly well!

I like to do some military presses, lateral raises and something for the rear delts, seeing as how they're so neglected. They make your back look very wide from behind.

Lateral raises will make you one WIDE-ass mother fucker if you get the mind-muscle connection down. I've been very thin all my life, but this dramatically adds to your v-taper. I highly recommend them.

If you military press and do any benching barbell movements, that's more than enough for the front delts, imho.

I also love to lift. Ehh shoulders are tough too. I would do like 3 sets of 10 for military press (sitting upright and take bar down and over head) Then do 2 sets of 10 w/ the same exercise but bring the bar behind ur head (you may have to lighten the weight). Then do front lifts and side lifts w/ dumbells, i would say 5 sets of each. Overhand pull ups should help too.

Nice. I didn't appreciate behind the neck pressing because it was awkward, but in a smith machine it's awesome. You do have to lower the weight of course, but the medial delts get hit nice and hard. Obviously the front delts get trashed too. It's great.

I just recently, like within the past 2 weeks, started doing the clean and press, and I must say it's one of my favorite lifts. Of course it doesn't just work the shoulders but it hits them very well.

Yeah, they're brutal. I'm really only doing compound movements and staying away from unnecessary volume and it's working out quite well.. leaning out, getting stronger and looking better. Can't beat that.

Cleans and different variations are awesome

try taking 10 pounders and doing front raises, lateral raises, upright rows, and then shoulder presses, in a row, 10 reps without stopping in between. It hurts like hell but you'll see results quickly
