Anyone taken Astronomy?

One of the mandatory classes i have to take here, and i guess the stars would more interest me then anatomy/botany/chemistry.

Anyone here can tell me what to expect?

Well you are probably taking an into to astronomy course, so I expect you will either learn a lot about the solar system (astronomy 1 at my school) or you will be learning about black holes and all that jazz (astronomy 2).

our basic astronomy class covered a lot.


You first go over the different types of wave spectra and what actually passes through our atmosphere. Then you go over different kinds of telescopes. Youll learn about the different types of planets and the composition of their cores and atmospheres. Then you also go over their moons/rings. Youll learn about the different types and composition of stars, how theyre born, how they live, how they die, and the different types of supernovae, etc. you learn about what space dust is made of...a little about black holes, how time is bent around super massive objects, the draco equation which calculates the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and that's about it.

Composition of Planets/Atomosphere of those planets
Sizes of planets
Stars
Galaxies
Moon(s)

I'm taking Descriptive Astronomy right now and it really sucks. The physics professor is teaching it so he makes it more difficult. All the tests are comprehensive and they are fill in the blank/long answer. The class could be fun if he didn't ruin it with all the intricate bullshit.
