What's on your musical agenda?
    #6732273 -

What are your plans as far as concerts go, this spring/summer? I like hearing about where people are going and such. It gets me excited for them.

Our plans are to stay semi-local for the most part. We are going to see STS9 at the Alabama Theater on the 19th of April and later that month, go to Orange Beach, Al to see Widespread Panic for 2 days. I think that we are going to have a blast, that weekend(26th-29th)!! Then, on May 1st, Ween is playing the Alabama Theater! Then Ratdog and Keller Williams at Chastain Park, in Atlanta, on July 7th. We'll probably hit up some shows that I haven't found out about, yet, as well. Then Tool is in July sometime. I haven't gotten tix for that, yet, but I plan on it. AT the beginning of September, we are going out to Denver, Co for a week to visit friends and go to see STS9 at the Ogden Theater on the 6th and Red Rocks on the 7th and 8th. I can't fucking wait for that!!

So, what are you going to go see? ANybody going to any of these shows and want to meet up and smoke down and/or drink some brews together in fellowship?:drunk::stoned::heart:

Newport Jazz Fest
I wanted to go to Rock the Bells, but I don't think I can afford both, and since some of the acts I really wanted to see aren't playing NYC, Newport will probably be more attractive.

Hmm...I Googled it and they haven't released any artist info for this year, yet? It looks cool, though.

For Newport? Yeah, they don't release it until April, I went two years ago and it was amazing. Last year's line up wasn't as good so we skipped out, but if you're into jazz this is the premier event in my mind, even more so than the New Orleans Jazz Fest.

Short-term music agenda would have to be a raid on a local beach tonight, where me and some friends are gona spin some tunes under a bridge, with a newly-stolen generator :p

Dunno, as far as actual shows go, I guess Electric Daisy in June, and probably few more events before then. Im feeling like a decent forest party.

Tomorrow night, The Locust, Daughters & Cattle Decapitation are playing. That's as far as I've planned my musical agenda. It involves whiskey.

Mm, the Locust, always fucking fun to watch live. Their die hard fans are fucking ridiculous, and wear ridiculous shit, I love it. Them at Hellfest was one of the most memorable Hellfest gigs I saw.

I don't know how you could be a "diehard" fan of the Locust.. shit gives me a headache after half an album, but yeah, it's fun to see live. They basically spasm for 45 seconds at a time, twenty or so times.

I just found out that the New Pornographers and Stephen Malkmus were added to the show. I'm pretty damn excited.

Well, you know the dudes that wear giant diapers? Or show up as cardboard robots? Or duct tape outfits? And stand in the pit doing that goofy ass butterfly things with their hands? Those are the "die hard" fans. And they make it that much more entertaining.

- Mutek from May 30th-July 1st in Montreal
- Daft Punk in Toronto
- Possibly Bjork @ Toronto Islands, need to see what the rest of the lineup is for day 1 of the music fest + 1 day ticket prices first
- Craig Richards @ Footwork on April 14th

I'm sure I'll be out partying often this summer, just a matter of DJs getting announced ---- I want to try and get to Eclipse this year, but not sure if I can swing it $$ and in terms of getting time off for work.

hahaha

I've only seen the Locust twice, and I've never ever seen any of those people. Hopefully they'll be there tomorrow. Last time I saw Daughters the singer had just been arrested for public indecency in Portland, and everyone in the crowd was doing that stupid "bring it" thing with their hands the entire time. I had fun, but man, metal kids are fucking weird.

Maybe the crowd has changed. I haven't seen the Locust, or really any grindcore/hardcore/metal shows in three years except one of my friend's bands.

Well, the first time I saw the Locust was three years ago, so I doubt it's the scene changing. This'll be my first time seeing them in the northwest. I'm more excited for Cattle Decap. That band sounds like a giant meat slicer on wheels in hell.
