Iranian Hostages
    #6731279 -

I apoligize if this is already posted somewhere, but damn, I am so disgusted with the current news.

As most of you know, 15 British soldiers were captured "trespassing in Iranian waters" and then held as hostages. You can check the story on every news station if you've been living in a hole :smirk:

What are your thoughts on the hostage situation?

Is a war inevitable?

What the fuck are the Iranians thinking...?

Am I being too big of a nationalist, or should we go over there and bomb the fuck out of those bitches.

Because of the current situation Americans and People in the UK are being way too queer about what to do.

Back in the 80's before Regan because president he said that if the hostages wern't home by the time he was sworn in we were going to go and get them. There was a split screen of him being sworn in and the hostages returning home. Good stuff, but you wouldn't see anything like that today. Everyone has such a hippy stance on the wars today. I'm not saying I agree with the war on Iraq but now that we are there I would like to see it get finished. I'm also not saying we should just nuke the middle east but if they are capturing the soldiers of our allies I believe that is an act of war and something should be done about it instead of sitting here with our thumbs up our asses.

(please dont take this as a personal attack but)

sending 3 fully armed carrier groups to sit in the Gulf off Iran is an act of war.

also, can anyone tell me when the war in Iraq will be finished? there are no WMD's and Saddam is dead. what now? wait till a unicorn appears and stabs Ahmadinajad (sp) in the eye?

Im tired of death. i am tired of the lies.

Thank you.

No one and I repeat, no one knows what the fuck exactly happened to have these people taken and held hostage. What if the British patrol boat did enter Iranian waters? What then? Can you blame them for doing what they did? And so to immediately jump to the conclusion that it's Iran's fault and that you're disgusted, is well...disgusting. You are thinking exactly the way the Bush administration wants you to think.

Bush has been beating the Iranian war drums for over a year now and are you telling me that you are so quick to want to go to war with them over some BRITISH sailors being "captured"?

Please think a little bit more clearly.

They were probobly sent on a suicide mission specifically to be caught. The US and Britain have been gunning for a war in Iran for years now. What better way than a sob story about "Those poor soldiers!"

Wanna talk about captured soldiers? Look at the mass detention on Abu Ghraib which holds damn near 200,000.. almost all without trial. No one knows where anyone is. Familes are not informed. People just leave home, and never come back. But you know, highly televised capturing of a few soldiers automagically makes Iran a BAD guy right? I mean we Americans and Brits cant possibly be to blame for any of our actions.

If you believe the bullshit you spew, then you're thinking exactly how they want you to think.

The whole thing reminds me of something that happened just a few years ago, directly after PNAC stated that America needed to experience an event "like Pearl Harbor" to get our country to go on the warpath that the neocons wanted... a path clearly listed on multiple memos, including those to CLinton about not continuing a war-path directly through Iraq.

And please dont praise Regan, the man was a brutal tyrant on the world stage.

the whole thing is obviously a planned act of provocation. Poor sailors are just being used as pawns.

Remember back when it leaked out that the Bushites were thinking about sending an unmanned drone painted like a UN plane over Saddams' airspace, tempting him to shoot it down and justify invasion?

It's the same shit today, but now they've got the British on Iran so that the "damned hippy/liberal/wussies" in America can't bitch when Britain "defends itself".

for real dude! Think about it, if you were Iran; You've got Western militaries on one border in Afghanistan, and the other border in Iraq. A whole navy is sitting off your coast with cruise missiles pointed all over your country. You're completely surrounded by hostile militaries who are admitting to already running covert missions inside Iran.

Quite frankly I'd want a nuke too, but we all know that Iran is nowhere near getting one.

This will be the new Gulf of Tonkin...

I think it pretty much comes down to whether or not the soldiers were actually in Iranian water. Regardless of what happened, one of the countries is gonna end up looking bad.

There's a line you should and shouldn't cross. I'm speaking as an observer, not as an American citizen, so don't take what I say as pro Bush anything. First off, I have yet to see a statement released by the Bush administration about this, so I don't know how I'm "thinking exactly the way they want me to think". In fact, Bush invited the Iranian president over here just the other week after the soldiers were captured. I don't know what the fuck is going on in the Bush administration, my views have NOTHING to do with them so detach that idea from your mind.

Yes, I do see Iran at fault, but that doesn't mean I'm putting all of the blame unto them. If a country isn't trying to provoke a nuclear war they would release the hostages. There's a difference between playing defense and playing offense, and I believe they are on the offense. Sure, they might be pissed off because of the war right next to them and the US all up on their dicks, but don't view Iran as the innocent spectator that is being dragged into the war. They all each have their own plans, and Iran isn't getting into this for world peace.

This is a good time to fuck with the allies. The whole world knows that most of the US is against the war, our enemies in Iraq definitely know it. Can't you see that day by the even our own media is turning against our politicians? The media is going into there, ground zero, and coming back with footage of them befriending the enemy and talking shit about Bush. What the fuck kind of American citizen does that? Our emeries know more about the politics than most of our own country does. They know that it's cool now a days to hate the war and hate on Bush, and eventually we are going to pull out and Iraq will be free from the American military. Hell, congress is DEMANDING a pull out date. How smart is that? Let's just tell the enemy when we are going to pull out so that they can lay low until that day comes, which is exactly what they will do. Anyway, back to Iran. Iran knows all the shit I just mentioned, which is exactly why this is a perfect opportunity to go on the offensive and start foreign disputes. They know damn well the American people have lost faith in their government and it's the same in the UK. Toni Blair is getting shit for being in the war just as much as Bush is, Iran knows that the people will not want to go head first into another one when we couldn't even finish this one.

It's sad, the mind/politic games these governments play. Uninformed people are eating it up, and it's only even more fueled by the biased media.

OK First of all It is not Iranian It is Persian and if you are going to dis my people than you may want to do it by using the name that they really are. Yes everyone has there own opinion and I do respect that. I have never been to Iran but I do know that if they read this they would be so fucking pissed at you. Yeah I know it is wrong for them to take people hostages but it was there waters and they have a right to say who goes in it. Even though that is stingy or what ever you want to call it. They are not obligated to the same living situation as most places and for that I think that makes up for it.

Your post shows you have very little knowledge about the Middle East. We have never not been involved in Iran, and they want us out. In fact that's the largest problem they have against us. Our meddling in their affairs is why they hate us.

Post WWI Britain and France partitioned Iran, Iraq, Kuwait.. based on oil. This caused huge amounts of loss for their countries. Well, whenever they attempted to nationalize their oil (like Iran's Mossadegh back in the 1950's, or Egypt's Nazzer), isn't it funny that MI:6 and the CIA began staging coups. Mossadegh nationalized Iran's oil, and was soon after removed by a coup which we used to place the Shah back on the peacock throne. The same happened in Venezuela, but when they found out that the US was behind it the people of Caracas stormed the capitol to replace Chavez.

Don't you think its funny that all of our "enemies," the Baath party in Iraq, Khomeini in Iran, Chavez in Venezuela, sit on massive quantities of oil that has been nationalized, detrimenting the bank accounts of what are Primarily British and American investors? Tell me you're not so stupid so as to believe that they are acting aggressively towards us without warrant. We've raped, murdered, and pillaged in these countries. They do not like our presence, but we insist on it being there.

If you think that any of this isn't just a plan by the Brits and the Americans, then you really need to learn a bit more before you make judgments. Uninformed judgments are what the current regimes thrive on. Thats why I'm saying you're thinking what they want you to think.

If you don't believe any of this, look up the IPC. Read "The Devil's Game" or "the Freedom," or "Beyond Chutzpah" or any other of a number of books.

We want a war. Hell, there might not even be hostages... media war is what we're good at making. Look at "The Revolution will not be Televised" to see how we used media manipulation to basically fabricate a story against Chavez to show he should be removed from power.

I'm sorry, but we need to leave them alone. Thats all they want. They have the oil, and we need to accept that. If we don't, soon we're going to start a fight we can't win.

I'm not even sure who that was directed to because I don't see anyone "dissing" Iranians in this thread, just people voicing their opinions on foreign affairs and how they might play out. They would be so fucking pissed at me? Oh no, now I'm scared.

So basically your whole argument can be summed up by saying the Iranians are not at fault because they don't live in the same conditions as us? I'm sure you can come up with something better than that. I'm also sure that the politicians in Iran who make the decisions have just about the same accommodations as people in the US, so that's a stupid fucking reason.

Also, isn't it amazing that we are having pullout dates demanded by Congress, and now is when there are hostages. This will give the current regime leverage to say "We have no security on the Iraqi/Iran border." We won't be pulling out any time soon, trust me.

Besides, its not just a military occupation you realize... people forget that there is a corporate occupation being put in place as well.

A nameless fisherman has a story. How quaint. Pardon me if I don't consider him a credible witness... what with the being nameless and all.
