nope.... that doesnt say americans can/will be arrested. US Code on the
other hand does say they can be arrested for the crimes. you know, the
laws that have been enacted for years, they even arrested Timothy McVey
under those terrorism laws

they were deprived of their liberty - by definition they were arrested.

tribunal having lawful jurisdiction.

(4) Transfer to the custody or control of the person’s country

(d) CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this section is intended to limit
or expand the authority of the President or the scope of the
Authorization for Use of Military Force.

(e) AUTHORITIES.—Nothing in this section shall be construed
to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of
United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States,
or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United
States.

(f) REQUIREMENT FOR BRIEFINGS OF CONGRESS.—The Secretary
of Defense shall regularly brief Congress regarding the application

If an importer buys drugs like opium or opium products like heroin from terrorist-supporting organizations (Read:  Buys opiates from the Middle East) that could easily be construed as supporting terrorism and they could be detained under NDAA guidelines.  How long until that definition extends to importers getting drugs from Mexican cartels?

if anything, this kind of thing should signal that terrorism has clearly won. the government now lives in so much fear of terrorist threats that quoting an episode of family guy will get you barred from entering the country.

do you believe that they'd 'detain' someone under this bill before they
would US Law for bringing in drugs, this law states that detainees would
be released at the end of hostilities meaning that A) it's used in war time
and B) the detainee may be released in less than a year

Hmmm, like during the War on Drugs?
And sure they might detain them if they can't pump them for the info they want:

"Fine if you won't give us names we're going to keep you here until you do.  Don't worry, we work in shifts and we have all the time in the world."

I'm not sure if they would, but they could.

um... like no. the war on drugs is a slogan since drugs arent being shot
and killed, nor are they being held as POWs to be released after
hostilities end nor are they shooting back or taking prisoners. drugs are
an inanimate object. wars are declared by congress. nixon coined the term
war on drugs as rhetoric to show he's tough on crime

:lolwut: the War on Drugs doesn't target inanimate drugs only, it's the users and dealers.  My analogy was a little bit of a stretch but so are yours, whatever it still sidesteps my postulate: Buying drugs from the Middle East directly funds terrorist groups so the importers are considered as aiding terrorists, which is grounds for NDAA detainment according to the law as it's written.
Further, the definition of "terrorist" could at some point in the future be redefined to fit the agenda of the government.  Now that they have this power to detain people indefinitely all they have to do is slowly change the parameters of detainment over time.

except that if the importer is detained than as the NDAA is written then
as soon as the 'war on terror' is over then that prisoner is released, as
I said, it could be as little as a couple months away. then again it could
be centuries from now and if that person is a citizen o the US, they're
exempt from the NDAA detention

and monkeys could fly out of my ass

the bill specifically states that it does not apply to US citizens
