I heard somewhere that the minimum sentence for hacking is longer than the minimum sentence for murder.

I have no idea if that's true, but it's fucking odd.

Maybe for hacking a government server like the DOJ or something?

For hacking in general? Hell no.

Every year or two there's a pretty major bust, like an 18 month operation. They become very proud when they gnab a few 'big wigs' (heh), leaders of hacking groups and such. And then the dust settles, and you hear a year later that they just got some silly probation or home confinement for a month, or in the very worst cases a couple years in "prison" which they're out of in 6 months.

But hacking involving banks, government, serious amounts of money will get you some serious penalties, just as any other way of stealing a major amount of money or attempting to infiltrate the government would. So, not specific to hacking I suppose, probably just 1000x easier to do, and even easier to get busted.

For hacking a counter strike account, you'll proabably get banned from the server by IP at worst.

i remember when i used to play diablo II online 24/7 and then i forgot my password cause my computer didnt save it one day for some reason. I was so pissed off, but it got me doing active things and going outside.

i had 3 shakos! 3!!!

....

anyhoo, the point is that it was a good thing rather than a bad thing. you will thank that hacker later. unless you start a whole new account and keep going. then you wont i suppose...
