I think you have to be one egocentric son of a bitch to think that human beings are any more disasterous to this earth than termites or moles.

Then call me egocentric! The idea of living in harmony with one's environment is a thought pretty much void in our culture. Termites help the decomposition of fallen or dead trees, moles till and aerate the ground and play a vital part in their ecosystem but to you they're a nuisance. Humans do not play a role in any ecosystem; no other animal is feeding on us, we're not giving anything back to the earth other than carbon dioxide and millions of expensive coffins to keep our bodies from returning after we're gone. We're a burden on a planet that supported life for millions upon millions of years before we ever showed up.
And I believe that when our race is finally extinct it will be due to lack of natural resources and deteriorating environment; we will likely have polluted the earth so badly that it will never be able to support life once we've killed ourselves off.

Do you think the termites know the reason they eat dead trees? Do you think the mole knows that it is tilling the ground? I bet they are just following their instincts. In the same fashion, human beings are only following their instincts as well, but we really cant step back and see what our greater purpose is.

Animals, plants, fungi, insects, bacterium, etc. all have s symbiotic relationship with the greater organism (earth). These organisms facilitate proceses which are necessary for the living earth to function. This is mirrored in the human body where different types of good bacteria perfom essential functions that are required for human life. However, humanity is similar to cancer in the human body because we have become overgrown, and are impeding the function of the living organism. Other forms of life on earth don't seem to be doing that. Just like cancer slowly kills a person, so humanity is on a path to slowly kill the planet earth. That is, if the earth deosn't find a way to rid itself of the human infection.

In that sense, our solar system can be considered "alive" and earth is a planet that has been infected. To say that just intelligent life on earth is like cancer in a human (and not all life as we know it), is like saying that a gun is useless without a bullet - you can still bash someone in the face with a gun and kill them. Human life being the "bullet" and life itself being the "gun". Life technically "destroys" what it feeds off of - and what if it was the other way around, completely different, where every solar system contained life on every planet, but the stars explode after, say 1 year, destroying all life, is that cancerous? I'm rambling so someone correct me if i make no sense

That's what comedians do. They are kind of modern day philosophers. Just like how they have stand-up philosophers in Rome in the History of the World.

It is "just intelligent life" that is infecting earth because we are no longer a part of the cycle and have broken out of the food chain. Therefore all we are doing is destroying with no benefits to anything but our own species. This is the same thing that cancer or an infection does in a body, while every other healthy organism is part of a system or cycle.

We haven't broken out of any cycle, we just cannot fathom our place in it. Humans tend to have this ego that we are above all else...we arnt. Not too long ago we thought we were the center of the universe, until it was proven beyond a doubt that we are not. As well, to think that we are above the other creatures, and uncontrolable by the forces of nature, is just another ego trip.

I believe that we have broken out of a cycle. If we haven't, then what other form of life are we benefiting? We don't feed any other organisms all we do is consume them. We eat away and use up our environment without those actions being beneficial to anything but ourselves, just as cancer does to a body.

The food chain was once a food circle but humans broke it and straightened it out so that we were on top.

I don't know, and that is the point. If we could understand our place in the universe, then all speculation is moot. Just because we cannot understand our place in the cycle does not mean we have none.

we have better people for that job and it's called musicians. comedians should first and foremost be what they're suppost to be- funny. and Logan hasnt been that for a long time. He was once a promising up and coming comedian with a growing fanbase. now he's a cult icon with a small and hardcore followers. of which I am not a part of. I don't care to listen to what he says.

On a politically correct level they are not his theories. But yeah, we are bacteria, one time on mushrooms I was watching my friends walk to the kitchen to get some food and for some reason it reminded me of a spider running to go wrap up his prey

think of evolution, we evolved out of small bacteria. we are a big community of cells.

for all you know this whole "spiritual" thing could have evolved from evolution itself

Stand-up comedy is a great art through which one can express philosophical ideas because it's really the only time people will just sit and listen to you talk about whatever the hell you want. Music can also be used in that way but you can't just stand up on a stage with a microphone and be free to express yourself with no boundaries, you need to get your ideas across in melodies accompanied by musical instruments, lights, and other visual and audio distractions (screaming crowds, etc.)

obviously. i don't need to take dmt to realise that. everything we precieve is just a chemical reaction. it's all in our heads. everything is. we're all just thoughts, that's what is

I don't think this will be true in the next few billion years. Think of the thousands of tonnes of biomass locked up in the earth's crust as bacteria, or all the extremophiles that can survive ridiculous amounts of radiation, heat, acidity, etc. Our earth sprang to life in a mere ~200 m.y. after it formed! Life will have no problem bouncing back from whatever we throw at the planet.

As for being a cancer, well, it's a metaphor with it's own insight. I like to think of humans as neurons. The way a brain forms is closely related to the way humans appeared....a massive population burst before all the individual neurons start connecting and exchanging information...like this!

Though if we are Gaia's brain, we've sure been bumped on the head as a child.

i totally agree with you but comedians also have to disguise it and make it entertaining in order to appeal to enough people to have an audience. Joe Rogan seems to have forgotten how to do this and the fact that people still put spotlight on him is beyond my understanding.

Humans can certainly come to understand enough about the workings of the universe to  reduce our negative impact to a more considerate amount and help other life forms in many ways. The main motivator for destruction is greed and they are greedy because they aren't tripping cause the little nubbly noobcakes are scared:crazy2:.

If drugs were free, like they were for the 40,000 years leading up to the last few centuries we'd all be happy enough to stop trying to rip eachother off all the time with our ingenuity:tongue2:.

Umm Im suprise nobody has realised that Joe Rogan was basically quoting Terrence Mckenna.
Like that part about smokin dmt n seeing a flower.
I mean it was wierd I listened to one of Mckennas speechs and then a while later saw that video n was like wtf?
Is he really trying to say those are his original ideas or was he mocking mckenna?
Then I saw the isolation tank n was like, " that bastard is basically sayin verbatum what mckenna said."
I do see humanity as a cancer of sorts.
A dirty bacteria, just like theres ok bacteria (prairie dogs) theres bad bacteria(humans)..
I just cant see why mckenna couldnt see this, mushrooms cant be all great and powerful if they just give us the intellectual ability to kill ourselvs and our planet.
IF mushrooms did help our conciousnous evolve through some almost supernatural predetermined chain of events.
Howcome they got us here and not into some better earth loving situation?
Dudes a genious, I just think he went to far trying to prove it.
He lost sight of what he was trying to see.

That's convenient to shift the blame for our situation to mushrooms. We are the ones who will have to change our behavior, nothing is going to change it for us. Mushrooms can show us how we have lost our way, but they can't force us back onto a healthier path. Joe admits to reading a lot of Terrence McKenna and the psychedelic experience can be fairly similar between two people, especially considering the two are using the same methods (high doses in silent darkness). I'm not saying Joe wasn't ripping off McKenna, I'm just saying it's possible that is really what he experienced.
