Amateur fights are really what gives MMA a bad name.  1 death as a result from an MMA bout compared to 100+ from boxing matches doesn't mean shit to most people because of all the stories they hear of unsanctioned fights ending in deaths or severe injuries.

Regardless of being an "amateur fight" or not, where I come from there are still ethics to being in a fight.  Even a bar fight has a "code" of rules up north here.

That shit would never fly.  You were exactly right though...both thought they were badass, both have done time and think they are tough shit.  They started the fight, the mexican guy one punched the white dude who went down hard, hitting his head pretty hard on the way down and was pretty much out cold, but the other guy didn't stop there.  Mounted him, preceeded to throw huge punches to the sides of his face and back of his head and then stood up and started dropping down with his a knee a few times on his head.

It was utterly sickening.  Like the topic suggested, I just don't understand how people can fight so fucking cheap.

Either way he's trained in the MMA style and Kimbo isn't. So he should win every time if they fight with MMA "rules" (since it's not a sanctioned fight or anything obviously the rules aren't really rules or whatever.)

Just like I wouldn't expect a UFC fighter to win a boxing match, or a boxer win a UFC match.

The only reason they gave him the fight, as it's cited everywhere anyhow, is because of that video with kimbo.  They needed a spot to fill and decided to give this cop from boston a call, who had a video fighting this "kimbo" dude.

He hardly shows any skill at mma.

And that fight was bullshit.  They say kimbo only does standup...well then why, before Gannon started doing anything "mma style", did kimbo go for a lazy ass shoot?  He was getting tired, hurt or both and shoots for the leg of the cop, trying to pick him up and shit and that's when the cop started trying to put a choke on him and gave him some knees to the head.

And then kimbo says he only accepts bare knuckle stand ups.  In that particular video you see his friends and whatnot getting in and getting all pissed because the cop started trying to choke him.  What a hypocrite

Yeah, in the long run, the dude probably would have won anyway, Kimbo was definitely tired. But we can't sit here and deny the fact that Kimbo is a bad ass motherfucker just because of that one fight.
