what the heck am i doing wrong? it's been raining like hell, and i keep scouting cow pastures around town. not a damn thing. temperatures seem adequate, possibly a little too cool. anyway, should i just be patient, or try to find a "better" pasture? is there such a thing? perhaps one located near a river or lake? i'm open to any suggestions. i have done quite a bit of reading online so i'm not completely in the dark here. i'm just anxious to find some treats. peace, rafi

Raining like Hell? We've had some rain but we're still well behind for the year. Just saying it's been a rough year for the shrooms. Not to worry though. There will be plenty of cubes up after the next couple rains. I just went picking in Plant City and found a six little caps (biggest was 1.25") the more promising thing is that I saw lots of pinning or shroom primordia forming so they'll be around soon. I bet you guys can find some if you look in the right place. It's rained some, sure, and there will be cubies out in low numbers now. But we haven't had a four to five day stretch where the humidity remains above 80%. If you try again soon, Look for a field that is likely to have some wetter areas. These are places like under trees and low areas with water. Fields that are too high in elevation or where the soil is sandy and well drained are less likely to have shrooms. The shrooms aren't growing on the turds that are getting baked by direct sun. I think that only happens when its been really wet. Seriously guys. Find a field where 1.cows have been there for a while ie. You see old turds and new turds 2. cows are grass fed. Not a feed lot or dairy farm where cows are fed corn, the spores don't do well in corn fed cow turds. 3. there are shady and/or lowlying areas. (really tall grass will work) 4. you can get in and out without being seen. Fields next to a wooded area are good, or right along an insterstate highway if you act like you're broke down. When you find such a field come to it about 24hours after the next rain. Park somehwere where it doesn't look suspicious or have someone drop you of and pick you up a couple of hours later. Bring a bag where dark clothes. have an excuse thought up for being in the field. Spend as much time watching your ass as you do looking for the shrooms. Pick everything that grows out of the turds.Use scissors so you will be able to come back and harvest again. And eat only the ones that bruise blue and look like the shrooms you see here. Hope that helps. You guys'll be up to your ass in shrooms real soon. Peace

i just went out near my local field thats past oviedo on 426E. theres a nature reserve across the street that i was hiking in and when i was going back to my car, i saw 3 teenagers get out of their car and dash across the street into the woods right next to the fields i usually shroom at. my guess is that with all this rain that that field is surely producing mushies (pan cyans primarily and cubes). you just gotta find a field that is populated with shrooms, which is hard.
