hygrometer acting strange
    #6537017 - 02/06/07 02:32 PM (17 years, 2 months ago)

my digital hygrometer/thermometer will constantly turn on and off. the temp and h level will all clear then come back slowly one by one... im thinking its because its IN the FC covered with moisture. anyone else had a problem like this? any known cause and/or cure?

A lot of those electronic units are not designed to work in condensing humidity, meaning that their electronics can be affected or damaged by water droplets in high humidity environments.

A properly calibrated analog unit usually works better for FC/GH applications.

Wow that's crazy. Just today I went to wally world to exchange my hygrometer. IMO that the best way to go is buy one of those $11 Acurite Thermometer/Hygrometer from Wal-Mart. Take it home pour about a tsp. of table salt in a ziploc and hydrate the salt. Throw your hygrometer in there and it should go to 75 in about 10 min. You can use this as a scale to measure your humidity accurately. Now, here's the catch. When it start's f'ing up. Just take it back for another. Wal-Mart will let ya exchange w/o a receipt. Whoo hoo Hygrometer for life. Wonder if they'll take back a sterlite with some holes in it??? Have a nice Life !

Since we're giving testimonials... I swear by my La Crosse WS-9023 and the three remote sensors I have connected to it (MAX supported).  The [min] / [max] settings are nice for monitoring your hi/low "swings".

As soon as I seen it I knew I had to have it because it curbs my "fuck with it" tendencies. :shrug: at least I admit it, lol...

It's an ONLINE LINK, not directions to Walmart.

Those are typically not available too much locally the one linked is an excellent price as well.

I bought two of the masons hygrometers too..

Only things were... when it came I didn't have distilled water at the house for it and I've spilled it on me twice... If your using it in a FC/Greenhouse whatever you call it you hardly ever need to refill the water.

Do any you just use regular tap/well water with the hygrometer what's the difference?

You don't take hints very well.
If it was available at walmart;
I would have posted a walmart link.
Or, link to any major USA chain store, for that matter.

Besides that, "available locally".
Doesn't mean much, without you giving the country;
You reside in.

The link I did posted is a GREAT price & fast shipper.
