Bright Futures Exchanged for Profit.
    #6472144 -

Well, every once in a while I get thinking to deeply about life when all I need is a good trip to clear out the cobwebs, and I end up posting here. But my most recent rant is simple, Education.

I'm sure alot of people feel the same way, but I feel about 500% smarter then the average person, I also feel the average person feels this way as well. I realized early on in my life that a grade on a piece of paper does not mean shit and the majority of people just see you as a method to get paycheck, but stuck with school all the way until grade 12. Finally, I had a complete dick of a teacher, and dropped out. I'm one math credit short of a diploma, and I NEVER get a break about it, its all or nothing. No one looks at the fact I finished the rest of a 4 year long exercise in hell, all they look at is the fact i dont have this little printed out roll of paper which means absolutely fucking nothing.

So I moved out, got a job and have been on my own for a bit, my girlfriend is in university out of town so I pretty much entertain myself. I've never been a big pot smoker or shroomed very often, but it is definetly a large part of who I am (I also never smoked/shroomed before I quit school, only after)and basically shook me out of my normal piece of shit useless existence, or so I percieved it at the time. I now realize I have something great going on, no one else sees it. I am just heckled constantly to keep going, university, college, get a better job, anything.

I am happy as fuck right now, always have been, Everyone around me just try to makes me feel miserable about myself. The odd time, such as right now they get through and get me thinking maybe I should do something, then when I end up tripping I realize the great gifts I have and that everything is fine living how I am.

I contemplated University recently, until I heard this story. A friend of a friend is a university student, mommy and daddy paying the way for little princess's bright future type deal. This girl was in a drug and behaviour class, and they are studying cannabis. This girl had submitted several papers on the subject, and got back good marks. So during a conversation with my friend she brings up her papers and good marks, he asks her stance on cannabis issues, she replies, THIS IS NOT A LIE: "What do you mean my stance on it, eating people is disgusting!"

Needless to say, that encounter was my needle in the coffin for my thoughts of ever going for higher education. If someone that uneducated, that unworldly can get through the system, and their teachers actually mark that shit without busting out in tears laughing, as long as there check clears, there is no hope for truly great minds to persevere.

It seems impossible to "learn" in the traditional sense without a massive bank account. So in the meantime i'll stick to my own personal happiness ways. I may be poor, I may not live in the biggest place, but god dammit, i'm happy, and I am brillant.

Thanks for reading guys, I appreciate any feedback.

Wait, you're one credit short of a college diploma, or a high school diploma?

I think he means high school... Anyways man college is good for you if you consider yourself intelligent. Take a broad spectrum of classes and narrow in on what you want most. You'd be surprised on some of the interesting information you get in sociology, arts/literature, biology classes. If your brain is hungry feed it. Working a job and making a wage is ok for most but if you truly consider yourself special then you will need degrees to get past the bullshit meters and get a real profession. The best way to get by the poor part is taking out some loans. If you get into a good profession you will have them paid off in a few years meanwhile you'll have the funds to get a new car, house, space of your own instead of living in an apartment forever.

dont let a few bad examples from a high education fool you. College is a great way to explore who you really are. I know that shrooms or whatever drugs might help sometimes to put things in perspective, but fuck they can also destroy you, and your idea of what reality is.

School, putting knowledge into your mind i dont think is ever a bad thing. Fuck man you must be like 17-19 right now. Im 25 and still in school, and plan to be until im at least 34.

I live in a country where I have opportunities to continue learning new things, and not have to work until I feel ready to, and feel confident that I'll get paid what I really deserve, because I feel smarter too, and will have a strong certificate to prove it.

You're young enough to explore your options for a while, but try and keep school an option, take a community college course here or there, and make sure some of them count towards an AA (talk with a counselor). Next thing you know, 2 or 3 years from now, you might have a whole different perspective on life, have a goal to pursue an education that will afford you a good job, and have the degree to begin that pursuit.

Good Luck man, learning is key.

Assuming this one example is a clear representation of university education system isn't quite so brilliant.

An education can't be given - it has to be seized by an individual. Higher education depends only on what you expect to get out of it. If you have a desire to learn then there is plenty to be had at a college or university. But you certainly won't be getting force-fed like you were in high school.

If you just want a diploma for a few lines on your resume, they certainly won't hesitate to take your money and smile, which is unfortunate but it's the world we live in...

But as long as you're happy doing what you're doing then there's no reason to change. A college education shouldn't be wasted on someone with no desire to gain knowledge and experience from it.
