It's not the linguistic ability, or lack thereof, it's the effort put forth that matters to me. If you don't put any effort into an attempt to communicate then I have limited interest in what you're saying. Speaking with someone in person or chatting on IRC is one thing, it's pretty rapid fire and some people have actual speech disabilities (like stuttering for example). But in other arenas like e-mail or message boards where you have plenty of time (and tools) available to more effectively communicate but choose not to use them, that reflects poorly on the poster I think.

I run into this a lot in the work environment where I've had co-workers & supervisors send out "official" memos and what not and they read like they were written by an 8 year old.

There was a great one where we got this memo at the start of a divisional meeting and then our boss got up to read it. Hilarity (for me) ensued when he could barely read it and was stumbling over all the messed up grammar & spelling, not to mention random missing words. The punchline was that he was the one who had written it!

Man, there's no fucking way you weren't born in foreign country, or of foreign descent. Which is it and why are you trying to hide it?

What you think foreigners aren't as intelligent as Americans? you're talking like being foreign is a bad thing. An every American is of foreign decent.

this guy can't type English for shit, so what? You know what he meant, dipshit

see what happens when you let money come inbetween a brother? he hooked you up, like a brother would, and all you did was bitch cuz you didn't get it on time, like a sister would.

(ok, maybe you have the right. but I'm that brother that borrows 200 bucks and pays it back 2 weeks late with a little extra. thats what family is for)

This thread reminds me of my friend who doesn't understand the word "Owe" I've had him write an IOU or two when I let him borrow money and it's always written like "I own you $20"

I guess he thinks because he has my $20 that he should write "I own you $20"
