Pan's Labyrinth
    #6480175 -

Just got back from seeing "Pan's Labyrinth", and it was excellent. One of the best movies I've seen in a while, definitely the best that I've seen in theaters in years.

Anyone else seen it?

Heh yeah, nothing to do with the David Bowie movie. It was definitely darker than I thought it would be, given that it's a fairy tale with magic and fauns and the like. It's set in WWII Spain at a military outpost where the fascist regime that controlled Spain at the time is fighting Communist rebels. Lots of graphic violence.

Especially the ending, I could only imagine how I would react to that with a head full of acid.

--------------------
The story goes, or the way that I was told
There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low
And so he called all the wise men to the hall
And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring
It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king
Engraved in black, it had no front or back
But there were words around the band that said
Just know: This Too Shall Pass

You would run up to the screen with open arms attempting to hug that fuckin creature with its eyes in his hands!  :smile2:

That thing scared the shit out of me. What did you think of the ending, was it real or was it in her mind?

I did watch it while tripping. I loved it, especially when the guy was slowly sewing his FACE SHUT.

I stared at it for a second, I couldn't figure out what he was doing, then when I figured out what he was doing I laughed and was like, "Fucking cool.". I laughed again when he took the shot of rum.

Good movie, the best I've seen in a long time.

I also recommend Scanner Darkly while tripping.

Don't fear the gore, embrace it.

Yeah, it's bad ass, incredibly imaginative. I wish more film producers would take chances on a film like this.

I think I would be able to handle A Scanner Darkly much more easily than I would be able to deal with Pan's Labyrinth.
