A long time I growed with wetter substrate believing that more water was good, but now I used very dry substrate, so dry that if you look at the jars you can see large air pockets, before my jars used to look like they have no air holes. I believed that the mycelium traveled through the water, etc, but actually I was wrong. Now I keep a very dry substrate, and a very wet inoculation, at least a half of a syringe to each jar.
and it should take longer, if wetter, I suppose

one more question, i recently made another syringe from a shroom print i made from a mushroom i got from a friend, i tryed to make it as sterile as possible, turning my bathroom into a cleanroom. I innoculated in very sterile conditions as sterile possible, i used a syringe i made last time and all of my jars ended up falling to contams so is it likely that that will happen again with a newly made syringe? is it better to just go ahead and scrounge up some money to order some spores and if so what is the best place to order from, i was thinking sporeworks.com

As long as it wasn't like mud your ok. I think my substrate is a little on the wet side. I haven't seen slow colonization because of it. I use 1/3 of a cup water per jar of substrate. this works well for me but you'll find you happy medium. Also i always keep my substate light and fluffy when loading my jars. a little less than 1/3 is probably better but i'm always paranoid about it being too dry even though i hear this isn't a problem.

Some checkpoints
Did you boil your syringe filled up with water, wrapped in aluminimum foil for a half hour?
Did pressure cook a canning jar full with water?
Is your spore print sterile? Double bagged? (many vendor's promise a refund, if they send a contaminated print, i have recieved contimnated syringes from the hawks eye before, right when I opened up the package, I could see a bacteria forming on the outiside front needle of the syringe) Not a problem, he replaced them.
Did you spray the area with lysol?
Did you let the print soak in the water for a couple days?
Finally my method has alwasy been to open the jars fully, and then inject, I never go through the trouble of punching holes in lids, and so on, so contamination should not be a really big deal. Doing your inoculation with very slow breathing, no air circulation, and on a stove tray, with the oven on low, is best.

You definitly want to buy some syringes since your going to keep doing this. I would never trust a syringe i suspected of contaminating jars. 100% failure sounds like a contaminated syringe. I assume you sterilized your syringe? How did you do it?
