it had been opened and tampered with after it was shipped, it looked like. the address label was all cut up and there were razor marks in the cardboard from someone cutting some tape.

We ship a lot of packages, and you would be very surprised about the level of "abuse" some of them see while moving through the system. We've had packages destroyed by fire (yes, that's right, the truck caught on fire), lost because of natural disaster, run over (delivered with tire treads on the package), ect.

I wouldn't be too paranoid, as this does happen and doesn't always mean someone has tampered with your mail. Those machines can really rip something open if it gets caught in a sorting line. Sometimes the postal employees will do their best to retape a package if it is destroyed or opened up in the shipping process.

it's cool man. i'm over it. i just hate it when people tamper with my mail, know what i mean? the bags look good, for some reason i expected them to come like air tight? was that a bad assumption?

You'll need to contact mycofactory about the bags if you feel there is anything wrong with them. Typically they will be pretty air tight (as in not have a lot of trapped air in each bag). As long as the bag is in tact, it should be ready to roll for your gourmet mushroom experiement.

I was just wanting to try and ease your mind about your opened package. I can understand how upsetting it is, but it does happen more frequently than you think, especially for the reasons I mentioned above.

I hate that your order came like it did.
What do you mean by "air tight"?
The attached filter patch is designed to allow air to exchange and this does include air coming in as well as out. In its manufactured state this exchange is very minimal but will prevent a total vacuum from forming or staying "air tight". If you think there is something more going on that is a problem please contact me via email info@mycofactory.com and we can go from there. there was air in all three of the bags and the substrate was loose, like it had been smushed. i inoculated regardless, can i still expect it to work? or has the environment in the bag been tainted.

I am sure they are fine.
When the bags are mixed they will loosen up and then some air will also come inside the bag. This is actually what you want to do once you get the bags and before you inoculate them (mixing that is). So I think some of the "work" was done for you :smile:
