I Couldn't Resist The Sale Price - 10.68 Pound Lobster!! - *PICS* * 1

Jumbo lobster was on sale for just $7.99 a pound at my local Shaw's Super Market and there was just one 5+ pounder left...

It barely fit in my 5 gallon soup pot, but I cramed it in there and weighed the cover down :wink:

Steamed it for 25 minutes... PERFECTION!

What a fuckin' MONSTER!!







I need nut crackers 4 times the normal size!





The meat cleaver failed to crack the claw, but I managed to get the 1.3 pounds of meat out of it and the knuckles of it in just a few pieces:



Man, that was DELICIOUS!!  In a few hours, I'll pull the tail meat and chow that. Yes, I'll get a pic. :wink: :laugh:

hmm, how does something that was alive when your great great grandfather was little boy taste?
don't feel too guilty, in its LONG life of living in commonly fished areas, that lobster probably consumed his fair share of human remains (not to mention waste)
keep in mind tho, in 100 years or more (which could very well be its age) an scavanging animal can accumulate alot of mercury.
that said, i'd hit that!

Actually most lobsters live to be 15 years old, with very rarely some lobsters living to 50

According to the formula for determining a lobster's age (100 grams per year), my 10.68 pounder was almost 48 years old.

A 62 year old lobster was caught in Austrailia and the lobsterman demanded $2,150.00 (AUD) for it, ($1,683.44 USD), making mine a bargain at $85.33.
