My fav. trip buddy is my dog
    #6337377 -

No, I don't dose my dog! But she is my favorite companion for my solo trips. I like to dose at night and then walk through the woods or around the city listening to music, thinking, experiencing. I feel that Athena, my 3 yr old boxer, is my guardian on these nights, especially in the woods. Sometimes I can get so lost in the trip that I lose my bearings as to where I am once I get deep in the woods. Athena just leads the way and cuts the trail. If I wander of the trail, she comes back to me and then I just follow. I basically just follow through the woods for hours and eventually we are home. Whats crazy to me is that she isn't familar with these woods, I live in the city and it's about a 15 minute walk to the park. But yet it seems she knows exactly where I need to go and what I need to see.

I can only imagine the situations I might have gotten myself into without her keeping tabs on me. For instance, one night I indulged in about 4 grams of cubies and stuffed another 3-4 grams in my bag. Sometime during the trip I ate the other 3 grams or so and just was completely blown. We reached a point that I realized was about 5 miles from home. I was starting to have trouble walking, the darkness of the woods had turned into an explosion of twisted and twirling OEVs and it was very difficult to see. I started to panic a bit and got neverous about safely making it home. I decided to sit down and think about what to do. As I sat there I had a hard time distinguishing between my body and my surroundings. A very strange sensation. Soon enough Athena came to my side and started whining and nudging her head against mine. (I was kinda in the fetal postion but sitting up with my head tucked in my arms, if you can visualize that.) Well, her attention got me of my feet. She is always off the leash when in the woods, but I needed some help walking so I hooked her up to the lead and told her lets go home.

Normally she doesn't pull on her lead, shes a good walker. But that night Athena kept the lead tight to make sure I kept moving. It was like she sensed that I needed to be home and was determined to get me there. I don't remember much of the 5 mile or so walk home, just the relief I felt when I laid down in my bed, completely exhausted but completely fulfilled at the same time.

The next day I felt foolish for dosing so much so far from a safe place, but I didn't recall making the decision to eat more, it just kind of happened. Regardless, Athena got a big steak in the morning, so she was happy.

Sorry for the long story. I just feel such a huge connection to my dog, especially in the psychedelic state, that I couldn't leave it unsaid.

Some dogs must be reincarnated people, that's my only theory to explain those rare dogs (and cats and other animals really) that are just so far above their fellow animals.

I have a friend that firmly believes humans become animals and animals become humans.

So animals go to hell and humans go to heaven? Being human is gay.

My dog has this weird habit of just staring at you, without blinking or looking away like most dogs do. It's kinda unnerving sometimes. He's also a drool factory with a 50gal/min output.

I knew a dog like that.  He would just sit and stare are you forever without blinking...but what freaked me out was he had some disease like parkinsons for dogs or something and he would just shake all time and stare at you.  Made alot of people really uncomfortable. :runaway:

Great, great story!  Athena sounds like an amazing pet man, I love the stories of people and their pets....such deep and complex relationships.  There are these monks in Thailand that raise tigers and you can go visit them, pet the tigers and whatnot. I saw a similar thing with wolves in the wild. A guy studied them, got really close with them; they played together and whatnot.  He went back a year later and they ran up to him and started licking his face.

Props to you and Athena brother!

Thanks man.

I saw something about the monks and their tigers. That dude that always on the animal planet channel went and visted them. I can't remember his name, he's kind of goofy.

Yeah...it's probably him. The really sweet thing is that they're always looking for help. I'd love to work with tigers........and you can just visit them too.

Yeah, I think so....there was a bear guy, a wolf guy, these tigermonks.....there's a lot of people that connected with wild animals.
