Best athelete to never be on a championshp team
    #6321977 -

Ernie Banks of the Cubs in baseball or Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins, who's your pick?

Ted Williams.

It is my hope that Peyton Manning will be in that group when he retires.

Why so hard on the country boy?

Ted Williams was a GR8 choice man  I would also like to mention Maexwl Dionne of the Los Angeles Kings in the 70's....

It's not him, it's his team. I've always loathed the Colts.

Lebron James or Reggie Miller

THat's my picks, there's a lot of great atheletes never to win a championship but Lebron will win one for Cleveland in the future.

Hopefully

or he wanted to be able to walk after retirement. runningbacks on shitty teams tend to get beat to shit quickly. I vote for barry sanders too. i also like the peyton manning idea

Well alot of that is contingent upon how good their offensive line is too, the ability to open up holes in the other team's defence. Just why the fuck did Sanders call it quits so early anyway? He and Emmitt Smith of the Cowboys were a Gr8 rivalry..........

the Lions' offensive lion was terrible. so yeah, he took a beatin. Plus he probably realized that the lions didn't have much of a chance to win anything any time soon, so he decided to get out while he was rich and healthy. a little selfish, but for someone to work that hard all their life i think they deserve it

Nice play on words  Your point was well taken. Eric Lindros who just Left the Toronto hockey team has had 8, count em 8 concussions in his career yet he continues to play(somewhere, i'm not sure) I mean it isn't like he needs the money, i mean if you don't have your health you don't have sweet fuck all

Excellent answer. That guy was so good at both football and baseball, totally different skill sets, that it boggles the mind.

To me Bo Jackson doesn't count. I know that he was probably a better athlete than anyone else mentioned in this thread, but he didn't play nearly as long as any of them.

Excellent choices all, how about Marcel Dionne of the the LA Kings in the national hockey league? Or Earl Campbell former running back of the Houston Oilers in the NFL? (Although i realize the longevity factor wasn't there........
Dud the Baltimore Orioles ever win a world series with Cal Ripken JR at shorstop? I know one year they had 4 20 game winning starting pitchers and still didn't make the playoffs :frown:

Cal was on the team in '83 when the O's won the series and he played in 162 games.

1971 was when the O's had 4, 20 game winners. Lost the series to the Pirates.
