I think as of right now, either Dwayne Wade or Chauncey Billups will win.

If anyone other that James should get it, it's Wade. I think James will get it though.

There was an article in the local paper about how is age might affect his chances
They were saying he's young enough where he'll have plenty of opportunities, and that might factor into the voting
I'll see if I can find it.

Couldn't find that particular one, but here is something similar:
Kobe Bryant
L.A. Lakers (40-35)
Age: 27
Key stats: NBA-leading 34.8 points a game, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 points.
Inside the numbers: Bryant fights the perception that he?s a ballhog, and the stats show he averages an NBA-high 27.1 shots a game. James scores 31.5 points a game on 23.2 attempts.
Why vote for him: Without him, the Lakers are not a .500 team.
Why not: With him , they are barely over .500.
In conclusion: Like him or not, and there is no riding the fence here, the guy is an immense talent who will get a lot of votes.
Dwyane Wade
Age: 24
Key stats: 27.7 points, 6.7 assists, 5.8 rebounds.
Inside the numbers: Gets to the free-throw line more often ? 10.9 times a game ? than anyone other than Allen Iverson, who averages 11.5 attempts.
Why vote for him: He has the Heat near the top of the Eastern Conference despite Shaquille O?Neal no longer rendering fear in the pivot as he once did.
Why not: No good reason.
In conclusion: He?s the NBA?s best shooting guard since Michael Jordan.
LeBron James
Cavaliers (45-30)
Age: 21
Key stats: 31.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists.
nside the numbers: He?s on his way to becoming the fourth player ever to average more than 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in a single season. The others ? Michael Jordan, Jerry West and Oscar Robertson.
Why vote for him: He led the Cavs to their first playoff spot in eight years and is the rare player who puts up astounding numbers, yet is unselfish .
Why not: He?s 21, and has plenty of time to win.
n conclusion: No one has played better than James over the past six weeks, and he kept the Cavs from bottoming out while Larry Hughes missed 45 games.
Dirk Nowitzki
Dallas (56-19)
Age: 27
Key stats: 26.6 points, 8.9 rebounds.
Inside the numbers: His shooting accuracy from the field (48.3 percent) and 3-point range (41.2 percent) are career highs.
Why vote for him: The Mavericks have lost Steve Nash and Michael Finley in recent seasons, but remain one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
Why not: Scouts do not view him as the kind of player who can carry a team over long stretches like James and Bryant.
In conclusion : At 7-feet, he is as tough a matchup as there is in the NBA ? someone who can shoot the 3-pointer with accuracy and post up effectively.
Steve Nash
Phoenix (49-25)
Age: 32
Key stats: 19.4 points; leads the NBA in assists (10.5) and FT accuracy (92.6 percent).
Inside the numbers: Ranks second in turnovers per game ? 3.5.
Why vote for him: The Suns lost Joe Johnson to free agency and Amare Stoudemire to injury, yet have one of the top records in the West.
Why not: He?s the defending MVP. There have been eight back-to-back winners ? Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Tim Duncan and Moses Malone. Sorry, Nash is not in that class.
In conclusion: Quite simply, he makes everyone around him better.
Elton Brand
L.A. Clippers (44-30)
Age: 27
Key stats: 24.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.6 blocks.
Inside the numbers: Ranks among the NBA?s top 10 in points, rebounds, blocks and field-goal accuracy ? 52.7 percent.
Why vote for him: He is the principal reason why the Clippers are experiencing their first winning season since 1992 and their first likely appearance in the playoffs since 1996.
Why not: Many people do not believe the Clippers of new are not really the Clippers of old.
In conclusion: What was former Bulls boss Jerry Krause thinking when he traded Brand to the Clippers for Tyson Chandler and Brian Skinner in June 2001?
Chauncey Billups
Detroit (61-14)
Age: 29
Key stats: 19.1 points, 8.7 assists (4th in NBA), 90.4 percent free-throw accuracy (2nd in NBA).
Inside the numbers: His assists-to-turnovers ratio is 4.06, tops in the NBA.
Why vote for him: Not only is he the glue that holds the offense together, he is the best defensive point guard in the game.
Why not: Ask yourself, is he more valuable to a team that has the best starting five in the league than James is to the Cavaliers or Bryant is to the Lakers?
In conclusion: With Billups, the Pistons are a legitimate NBA championship favorite; without him, they would still be a good bet to reach the finals.

as of right now... nash is probably in the lead... cause look at what hes done with his team without amare.. making the team around you play better is one of the biggest factors in the mvp voting.. which is why kobe will never win it
2nd choice... dirk... but nash will win it

last nights proformance in which lebron hit the game winning shot was just another example of why he IS the MVP this year.. im not really sure when the MVP award is given out, but depending on his playoff proformance, that should also help determine the winner of the award
however.. out of all the players discussed for the award.. with the exception of kobe bryant.. lebron james has the 2nd worst supporting cast..

If anyone thinks LeBron doesn't deserve it after the game last night, they're nuts.

It's not as if it matters anyways. All roads to the finals lead directly to the Pistons.

i have to agree with you.. however in the east the only contenders for a finals appearance against the pistons are the cavs and the heat.. and if the heat end up playing the pistons.. before the conference finals.. that could cause some problems..
the heat can beat the pistons.. atleast they are the most likely to take them down.. but the cavs can take out both the nets and the heat.. it should be an interestin playoff this year

The Heat can beat them, but they can't beat them four times out of seven.

I agree. Wade would have to put up some amazing numbers to do it. When they beat us this year, Wade scored the final 17 points for the Heat. I can't se him pulling that off in several games in a row.
