Pins and Mycelium Question...

Has anyone ever noticed that mycelium continues to grow after pins have formed?

Or, have you observed the exact opposite--that, even in cakes not fully colonized, mycelium production stops once a pin or pins have formed...?

It may or may not continue to grow. Depends on your temp and humidity. Generally it will continue to grow a bit, especially if you are fruiting in higher temps. This is not a bad thing. Never birth a cake unless it has been completely colonized for at least a week. It may be covered on the outside but still need some more time to colonize the middle of the cake.
