I haven't tried any yet. A head shop around the corner sells some, I should get a hold of it. I wanted to chew the leaves like cud, heard it was a mellower experience, but they don't sell leaves at the shop, just extracts.

There should be an age limit on extracts, that is all...

That is a logical approach since you really aren't gonna wig out from just smoking leaf. But still, I don't know how feasible it would be in terms of the law. Leaf and extracts both contain the same chemical so it seems like it would have to be all or nothing.

San Pedro is legal, mescaline is not. Think about it like that.

In my opinion no plant in its natural form should be illegal. When you start selling extractions and such, it can get complicated...

These Salvia reports are starting to grate on my nerves. They all take on the same approach "legal drug, teenagers can buy it easily, similar to LSD".

Why don't we write the same stories about pharmaceuticals and alcohol. You could apply the first 2 things to these - legal drug and teenagers can buy it easily. The only difference is, these drugs you can OD on and kill yourself. But we can't have kids having 5 minute trips and just scaring the living daylights out of themselves.

Never mind that the age limit for Salvia is R18 - I guess that slipped their mind when writing the story. That, and the supposed "suicide" link to Salvia is nothing more than speculation and finger pointing.

The same mindless reporting has even made it's way down to here (New Zealand) - some investigative report by some hack journalist about Salvia and was nothing but negative bias. They send some 7 foot 15 year old in to buy some Salvia (no surprise that he managed to buy it - he looked like he was at least 20), give a bunch of it to some volunteers who don't freak out. Then he smokes some himself without even holding it for 20 seconds or even inhaling it deeply. In a voice over, he proceeds to tell us that he had a terrifying experience that nearly needed medical attention (in the meantime, we see him grinning like he's slightly stoned and with not even a slight look of fear on his face). Oh, here was the kicker - he asked some neurologist "What would happen if someone smoked this while driving..?"

Yeah....astounding.  :crazy2:
