Going Metro

Turning metro = ditching the old t-shirts and the worn out jeans for some preppier stuff.

I saw some posters in another thread talking about cleaning up their clothing and appearance as they aged.  Recently, I had a girl say that I would look better if I prepped it up some (wore some Polo shirts and designer-ish shit, washed my hair more often, etc..).  That stuff just seems kind of weird to me though.

Is going metro weird?  Can you just go "kind of metro" (only prepping it up when you go to nice places)?  What are the social implications of being metro?

God...these are such dumb fucking questions.  I'm sorry for this thread.  :rolleyes:

I justify all my wussy behavior by linking it to doing it for women.

If I had my way, I'd walk around in jeans and t shirts all day long, shave 2x a week, shower every other day, and basically stink like a pole cat.

But women tend not to like that, so I buy nice clothes and shower n shit.

There is a difference between being metro and simply cleaning up your looks a little bit.

IMO, the 'metro' look is just kinda gross.

Ok, I see what you mean.  There's "cleaned up" and then there's "super-metro" (like that hideous guy pictured in the thread).

You want to hear something totally embarrassing?  You know that Rev. Haggard guy that was in the news recently?  He was the head of that large evangelical movement that hated gay people and he was secretly seeing that male prostitute and getting "massages"?  The guy was living a lie.  He was married, had children, was a Christian, hated homosexuality, etc...and yet he was secretly lusting after dudes.  That's how I feel about metrosexualism.  I dislike it.  I make fun of it.  But, at the same time I'm eyeing up the styles and thinking to myself, "You know...that doesn't look half bad...."

Yeah, I know. I actually remember starting a thread about the phenomenon of emo/indie rock guys getting tons of chicks. I have noticed that even emo/indie guys that are butt-ugly get Playboy-caliber girls.
