I'm loving Guitar Hero 2

It's such a sweet game. I don't know anyone who couldn't have fun with this game...especially with a case of beer.

When i got the first one, I didn't really appreciate at first. I went through the tutorials, then played all the songs on easy. It was when I started playing songs on hard/expert that I flat out fucking loved it.

Tons of my friends have played the first one since, most never play videogames and everyone has a blast with it.

So now, I got ahold of the 2nd one and although I'm still trying to warmup to the new tracklist, it rocks some major ass. A lot more difficult, which is quite sweet. But now, you got a practice mode!

Anyone else play this yet?

the 360 vers. aint comin out til 07 but i got hte ps2 version to hold me over, its damn good

I've played the first one. It is fun, i could see it becoming addicting.

I'm an actual guitar player... so I can't help but laugh when my friends think they're the shit because they nailed the solo to Stairway to Heaven  :cool: it's all fun and games though. I'd buy the game if I had an xbox.

adamj: yeah, its a game that has nothing to do with real instrument skill.  All my friends who actually play guitar get all snotty when guitar hero comes out :wink:

I've never played this game, but I do know my way around a real guitar.

I always get a kick out of my friend that thinks he's the shit because he "nailed Smoke on the water on Guitar Hero"

the creators say taht some of the songs on the new one played on expert are much harder than the sogns on a real guitar

I'm not saying they did. My guess was just that maybe they don't play too much real guitar.

But like I said, I really don't know anything about it. I'm making an assumption based on personal experiance with the actual instrument. There's every possiblility that I'm as wrong as a purple spotted elephant.

Stairway isn't on the game?

I've been playing guitar for quite awhile and I have to say, this game is very well done.

It would be fantastic for getting your kids into music early. It implements all the features of music very well. Time signatures/rythem, patterns of riffs....it's executed quite nicely.

And I can say, without a doubt, a LOT of the songs on expert are ridiculously more hard than playing them for real on guitar. I can play alot of the ones from the first one and believe me, learning them and playing them are a lot easier.

What's awesome about the second one, is it's co-op mode. One takes the lead while the other takes either the rythm or bass. You work together, sharing the rock meter, starpower, etc. It captures quite nicely what the feeling is like to play in band. When you both start really nailing the notes together....it's quite a similiar feeling.

Me and all the people I've shown the game to find it so satisfying. The same feeling you can get for learning a new song on the guitar. When you nail the solo on Bark at the Moon on hard...you'll know what I mean. It's quite a rush.

The ps2 version came out this past tuesday, the xbox360 version will be available spring 07 as someone mentioned.

Oh, and the creators are quite talented musicians, many having their own band's songs in the bonus tracks. In the game they have unlockable videos where they show you behind the scenes in the studio type stuff. Very awesome musicians.

I have to say my favourite song to play is Free Bird. It's ridiculously hard. Very satisfying and very well executed.

Picked it up on tues, beat all the songs on hard in 4 hrs.  I got all the way up to the last song in section 7, psychobilly freakout, on expert.  Been stuck on that one for a day.

The second one is a lot better then the first.  The gameplay is more smooth and precise, the set list is a lot better, the graphics, animations, and career mode are well done too.  It cracks my shit up everytime you travel to a new venue, i also like the encore feature as well.  The way they introduce freebird is funny as shit :laugh:

However the greatest new feature in this game is the co-op two player mode!  If you haven't tried it you should, one person plays lead and the second person either plays rhythm or bass guitar.  Also each player can select their difficulty level, i like this because my other friends really can't play past the medium level and i like to play on expert or hard.  This way you can play along with others no matter their talent level and still enjoy it.

Definitely a great buy, i just wish they had a way for you to buy and download new tracks.

yah man, one night my roommate and i were jamming out on the first one. He had one of his buddies stop by who brought a friend. He watched us play for a bit, asked to try it out, and after failing a few times on medium he told me that he's played guitar for 20 years and it was easier to play then the game lol.

For the 3rd one they definetely will.

I beat it on medium/hard in about 4 hrs myself.  I just did the first 5 songs an hour ago on expert. 

I tried playing Freebird on expert(in quickplay) and it's ridiculous.

I have to say, I'm still trying to warm up to the new tracklist. 

The hammer ons and pulloffs are also a lot smoother, so it's quite nicer to play this time around.

I have a feeling that stairway to heaven will be in the third one.  The way they heckled freebird in the first and put it in the second and they heckle stairway to heaven in the second....it's just a feeling, but my money's on it being in the 3rd installment. *crosses fingers*.  Although I'd much rather have other led zeppelin songs, I can live with that.  :grin:

I want more stevie ray vaughn and eric clapton tracks (even though the first one was clapton as a part of cream). Crossroads and Texas Flood are my two favs off the first one.

For the second i like way too many to have a favorite, but sweet child o mine and warpigs are hella fun to play. If you guys haven't done it already go buy the bonus tracks! There's a buckethead song on there created specifically for the game!

Lies!!!  I play the guitar and I love it.  I can definitely play better knowing how to play the guitar.  A lot of the finger movements are the same in the game as on the guitar.

I know someone who scoffed at the game saying "I play real guitar".  Once he gave it a chance, he played for 5 hours straight.  Most people that I know that play it also play the real guitar.

Bark at the Moon is my absoulute fav, although eric clapton's work, crossroads is quite awesome. Onther fav was sharp dressed man. Fuck that is fun to play.

I also wish they added more of clapton and stevie ray vaughn.

I have to say, I like a lot more from the first one. But I'm a classic rock guy. Even though there is classic rock in the 2nd, I feel their were way more classics in the first.

But it's still kickass. And freebird is better than anything from either in my opinion. I think the best bonus track is gemini...pure solo for the most part.

I also really like war pigs, carry on my wayward son and crazy on you.
