UN Calls for Protection of Peyote

A stretch of the Chihuahua desert in northern Mexico has been included in a UN environment fund to protect sacred lands. This area is where the Huicho people make their annual pilgrimage to harvest the peyote cactus.

The peyote cactus produces Mescaline, a powerful hallucinogenic which the Huicho believe allows them to commune directly with their gods.

UNEP director Klaus Toepfer said, "There is a clear growing link between cultural diversity and biodiversity, between reverence for the land and breadth of often unique and special plants and animals."

I wish I could get our hands on some Peyote or some Synthetic Mescaline, Freedom of religion means I should be allowed to try this form of spiritual communication, as much as a native.

Why not just go for Peruvian Torch or San Pedro? Leave the endangered peyote alone- you can still trip on mescaline without that specific cactus.

Unless you want to go through the long process of growing it yourself. But chances are, after you spend all those years growing the peyote plants, you'll be hesitant to destroy them just for one night's trip.

:thumbup: i know if i grew peyote i'd use peruvian torch for my experience instead. at least until its been 10-15 years and i've developed quite a few extra lophs...
