Check out my first pins! i'm pretty excited for these. how do they look? does it look likea good pinset? it's only 1/2 pint cased with 50/50

FIRST UPDATE: bout 30 hours after (my how they have grown!)

SECOND UPDATE: about 24 hours after the last photos. these things grow like mad!

Damn dude, what strain are you using? and how did you get them to grow so fast. Your pins in 48 hours or so made more progress than my friend's have in a week and a half!!

mightycelt, are you sure yours haven't aborted? a week and a half is an awful long time... slow growth is possibly a sign that your cake got dehydrated during colonization to solve this just do a 12 -24 hr dunk... it'll make all the difference in the world...

I think if you would have put foil around the bowl you would not have side pinning.All the shrooms would have grown ouyt the top.(maybe a note for next time)GOOD JOB

Thanks all! unfortunately i haven't had so much luck with my cakes that i birthed a few days after I birthed the casing. I only have a few pins on 5 cakes or so. i'm sure hoping that they start doing something. anyway that is the last time i brith strait cakes i'm always doin casing from now on :wink:

as for how i got that casing to grow so fast, i've really been generous as far as water spraying and fresh air exchange, i've been spraying and fanning 4-6 times a day. some say this is too much but it seems to be working awesome for me. other than that i've just been following normal procedure as best as i can.

I'm sure some of them have aborted, but most of them are growing, a few are even starting to look like lil mushrooms, theyre just going slooooow. The cakes were dunked for 24 hours immediately after birthing, and were sprayed with every fanning until the first pins were noticed, so I doubt they are way too dehydrated.

well they are done. i harvested them a few minutes ago. afew of the caps are gone because i made some prints. they were smaller than i was hoping for.

i've picked wild cubes with caps larger than all of those combined. oh well i can't complain though, it was fun. i have 6 pint jars colonizing right now that i plan on casing and 3 half pints that are almost done colonizing that i'm gonna case also.  :laugh:

What did ya expect with pf,Surly you didn't expect to get actually mushrooms in a good size or amount,I'm glad to hear you say you are never birthing cakes again,Good to hear,Best of luck to you Pikashroom :thumbup:.

i'm not sure about the exact humidity, i just used a pmp without the bubler or tub in tub. i just used perlite and sprayed 4-6 times a day. for FAE i fanned with the lid of the tub whenever i sprayed.

i bet i'll get one good trip out of those :wink:
