poll ..sunday saddam verdict==democrat meltdown?...
    #6244803 -

an iraqi tribunal will convict saddam hussein and sentance him to death on sunday (saturday evening in the US) in what is very obviously a calculated political manoeuvre by karl rove...how successful do you think it will be? ..
how much impact will roves' verdict have on the upcoming election?...
Users may choose only one (16 total votes)
the verdict will produce a repugnican landslide.. they will have at least the same majority and prolly more after the election...
-
0 0%
no landslide as such..but it will swing enough districts for the repugnicans to maintain control...
-
4 25%
it will swing some districts..but not enough for the repugnicans...
-
3 19%
no difference...

I'd be very very fearful in Iraq, Karl Rove may have a november surprise but the insurgency in Iraq has a ace in their sleeve, Iraq is teetering on the edge of all out chaos.

the topic of the thread is what the verdict will do in america..not in iraq...and in america..i can see this having the same kind of effect as when they caught saddam in 2003.. ie with a very strong knee jerk reaction that will be enough to push the repugnicans over the top on nov 7...remember that the debate immediately swings back to "national security" (repugnicanese for war+fascism) the instant the verdict is announced..and they'll be bleating 24/7 about saddam-hussein-would-still-be-in-power-and-not-on-death-row-if-the-democrats-had-their -way :blah::blah::blah:...

read my lips... If the Iraqi's were truly in control of Iraq then Saddams head would be chopped off as soon as they coerced him out of his rathole.

The Iraqi Government has waited way to long, its becoming doubtful he will even be executed, Saddam has been pulling strings of his intermediaries in Syria, he will not be tried or executed.

Im willing to make a bet on that.

maybe that's why bush is so damn confident in a Republican victory. But, I can see the Sunni insurgents freaking out after the execution (that is, if Saddam would be executed immediately) and killing more troops. I can also see the trial falling apart yet again and being postponed yet again.

I believe that this verdict coming two days before the election was designed.

I also know that American public support of the war is at an all-time low and many people strongly disagree with how things are going and Bush's "stay the course" foreign policy. I am not exactly sure if I agree that the American public actually cares that much about Saddam to alter their negative opinion of the bogus war. It is not like the death of Saddam would magically erase the fact that 3,000 Americans have died in this bullshit, built-on-lies, neoconservative war while the individual who perpetrated 9/11 and killed 3,000 Americans is still free and alive.

I believe America knows what is right and will vote according against the Republicans on Tuesday.

Sunni muslims are not making it a priority to help Saddam, The only thing Saddam has going for him is money, and lots of it, and finances especially large amounts can make or break a insurgency, If Saddam could contact his buddies in Syria and wire his ole Mukharbarrat and Al Fedayeen buddies some money.

Personally i think he will try a last ditch effort to free himself, its very possible.

Personally as soon as coalition forces pulled him out of his rathole they oughta just shot him in the head right there, any ordinary Iraqi would of done the same, instead he's tried on this ridiculous iraqi puppet court you can see the strings on the judge.

Saddam's predictable guilty verdict and subsequent execution has already been factored into public opinion and will have little to no impact on our elections IMO.

Democrats win the House and the hearings begin next year for Herr Bush and Cheney..

to be honest i dont think it will make that much of a diffrence. i assume that most americans probably believe he was going to be exacuted anyways and that it was really just a matter of time. and like BIO said above, it doenst change all the lies that created this war or the deaths that have resulted from it. killing saddam wont bring them back to life, nor will it find the wmds.

It makes no difference, unless you've drank too much coffee and are all jittery.
