Season Over Before It Started.
    #6236039 -

well, three consecutive days of frost and still no fall rains makes me think there will be no liberty caps for me this year!!! My close proximity to Seattle offers choices, but I am too paranoid of Draconian American Policing and trying to bring them back over the border is just plain stupid. Of course if I called ahead and said I had a knife our border guards would flee for safety and then......lol

same thing here in vancouver bc. it was sunny, warm, and dry 3/4 way into october, then it rained for about a week, and nows is been frosty, with negative temperatures at night. what a short season. one day all the plants in my yard were green, thriving, and healthy looking, the next day i wake up to see everything dead, and all the leaves on the ground.

i hope this doesnt mean no more shrooms this year

Here in NZ we still get shrooms long into the frosty weather...in fact many people use the first frost as a sign of when the shrooms should be starting to come on strong. It depends on the species and the area. What you've got to remember is that the frost is only on the surfaces of things. Many shrooms grow under trees / bushes or in long grass where they are protected from the frost. Don't give up hope. Frost does not = end of season.

If you're in B.C. I would be hunting for P. cyanescens in light colored wood mulch along the coast.

The rain's been coming down good since the mon, tues, wed frost. Hopefully there's still something out there. Found anything interesting yet libcapper or shins? Tonights pretty nice after the downpour. Thinking about scoping a new found field after dark.

I'm sure there are a lot of good cyanescens spots out here I just haven't found any yet. Gotta keep looking I guess.

yeah, just keep out there and make sure you're familiar with the target habitat for your target species. these rains will help a great deal.

I remember picking liberty caps near the oregon border many years ago that were frozen solid...It's been a long time, but I think i remember the season didn't last too much longer after that..There was a few, but that sort of ended it like maybe a week later
