A little cultivation help/information please! :D
    #6211911 -

Hey everyone, I need some help out with my cultivation. Alright, I've watched a shroom growing video, and read a few internet guides so I'm fairly familiar with the process, however I've run into a problem. I bought a mushroom growing kit, basically two buckets, one with a aquarium heater, and other components for growing mushrooms. I bought spores and used the substrate and containers that were provided with the kit. Everything was sterile and I put the containers in buckets and kept the heater at a high temperature. However, after more two weeks there was no mycelium growth at all. I have two theories as to what happened.
1. The spores that I bought were a dud.
2. The tempeture in the incubation bucket was too high ( The bottom of the bucket where the containers were resting was at least 4 or 5 degrees hotter then the actual air in the bucket)

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened. This is my first growing experience, and I've bought more spores and pre made substrate to ensure my second try works. (I hope!)

Thanks!  :mushroom2:

While I guess it's possible it became too hot it is kinda a long shot. I think 106F is thermal death for spores and mycelium.... What temperature did you have the incubator set at?

Could be a spore problem. Who'd you get em from, and what kit is it?

Hope it's not another mycogarden mess... Maybe we can figure out what went wrong.

In order to get the air temperature up I had to keep the heater up around 92. The air in the bucket stayed at about 84, when measuring the temperature of the bottom of the buckets surface it would go up to 92 - 94 sometimes. The spores are from sporestore.com. The kit is from University Scientific Corporation (the more expensive kit). I kept about half of one of the syringes for later use and when I ran into this problem I decided to look in the syringe. I shook it up and noticed some white stringy looking particles, I'm not sure how spore are supposed to look but, but I assumed these were them. I bought some more spores from the same company, in which I hope to use for my next attempt and noticed some dark brown particles floating around. (amazion strain) Not sure if that info makes a difference just some details I noticed.

Thanks!
