Cultivation Database
    #481025 -

Just curious if anyone has ever seen a shroom cultivation database before? I mean, anything online or even a simple Access DB to track jars, mixtures, times, etc etc.. You see, I'm a database "guy" and thought it might be easy to have some simple reports built to show colonization lengths, g yields for different strains and substrate mixtures... the possibilities are endless! =) heck, if no one has ever done this, I could maybe setup something from scratch.

Hi there

I was thinking of creating a database program to record my crops once i start growing, but then i thought about it a little bit. Keeping a log like that could be used as evidence for cultivation or traffiking, and i am a paranoid person, so i am opting aganst it, unless i add some sort of superduty encryption. I was thinking triple blowfish, or rijndal (sic). Maybe some day i will go to all the bother...

I love to experiment, a db like that would be cool. Let us know if you decide to make one up.

good point!

well, i was leaning more towards a web-based central repository, where one could login anonymously and post/retrieve their logs. Then, some reporting could be made to summarize everyone's results.

just a thought...

Please view my earlier post concerning this DB idea and the use of palm pilots in advanced mushroom cultivation. I am very interested in the idea, as it would raise the level of scientific reporting to have accurate "from the room" logging done.

The mycodirectory i don't think is what he had in mind...that is like a cultivation information database, he means for tracking of actual data, like temperature, colonization times, strains, yield, etc.

I think this is an excellent idea....both of you guys who said you had mysql experience, please pm me....

were working on a project over at the forest floor that i think you might be interested in.

yes, that's exactly what I meant to do, a db to track actual data of growing mushrooms.

For instance, one could make a report to determine the length of time it took to colonize jars based on certain criteria, such as amount of water, or amount of food. Then compare to see which one is "generally faster" and choose accordingly!

I'm a sr. level MS SQL Server architect so naturally, I'm always thinking this way. =)
