It is my opinion that this site needs more mods.

Shit, well, they need more mods here. In all honesty I've only been here about 3 years. 6 or 4 months ago I stopped posting due to flames, weird pictures (nasty, bad ones, whatever most people aren't into that shit, dead babies? Come on...) being posted, crazy people posting, all sorts of shit. So I stopped posting cept in lnc threads.

Then #lnc came, so I went there and stopped posting in lnc threads regularly.

Then crazy people kinda took over #shroomery in irc, most of the time. Unfortunately, some crazy people, we don't have to name names, you who go in #shroomery know who they are, just spam the room quickly with insane blather. Right on for freedom of speech, but must the crazies get it all the time? I guess that's tricky. So I stopped going in there for a while, I've come back to #shroomery lately, it still has the crazies spamming away, I put them on ignore but then when "normal" people respond I just get all lost. =/

I came back to this forum tonight and posted something stupid I did for fun/humility. Some how my myspace page ended up getting made fun of and a slew of other flames. I didn't bother to defend, bleh.

I am not the final judge, I do not know all. I only have my 3 years visiting this site off and on and my opinions.


My opinion is that this site, pub forum and #shroomery, needs maybe not new mods but more of them. People who love the site not just drug friends. I apologize if I've offended.

While I will continue to not visit the forums often, this place will always have a place in my heart as I've grown up and matured while visiting here. I have met many interesting people and learned many interesting things. I would just like to see the.. junk... to be lessened.

The pub, as that is the only forum I can comment on, only one I usualy visited and #shroomery chat.

You should be proud that you have an extrmely popular site but maybe 13 isn't enough for such a massively popular forum? Are those 13 logged in a lot?

im here a few times a day, as are several of the other pub mods... half of the time i try and take action on a post that i have been mod notified on, it has allready been taken care of.

so as the issue is not the number or activity of the moderators, perhaps you do not feel that it is being properly moderated.

What specific things, issues, instances do you feel were improperly moderated?

I spend 90% of my time in the pub and I don't see a lot of shit like that at all. Sounds like OTD.

Perhaps we need more mods who are active? :shrug:

For the most part, I don't notice a lot of problems, but I don't frequent The Pub, which is by far the most active community forum (I think P&S and OTD are essentially tied for second, I wonder if these type of stats are available?), so I have no opinion to express on the matter.

As for the more active mod thing I agree. There are a lot of people here at the shroomery, who :heart: the shroomery who work on comps all day who would love to do it. I'm sure you could find people for the pub who you could trust.

Can't say that I disagree. As far as I've seen you do know a lot, have experience with, and post good advice on that sort of thing... noticed it a long while back. I don't know that they need the additional help in there right now though. If you are around and actively posting when help is needed or positions become open, then who knows. :shrug:

Okay, based on a suggestion by Wiccan_Seeker we have made a few changes to the mod system.

  • If none of a forum's mods have been online within the past 15 minutes, it will be highlighted on the forum list for all mods and admins so we know it needs attention.

  • During this time when none of a forum's mods are active, the thread management options in that forum will be available to all moderators.

  • If a post notification is sent when none of a forum's moderators are active, all moderators and administrators will receive it.

Hopefully this will help address the original concerns raised in this thread.

And I should reiterate that the best way to get attention for a problem post, especially now, is to use the 'Report Post' link at the bottom left of any message.

Ok nice. Yeah, the line between OTD and the Pub seems to have blurred as of late. Keep the flames out of the Pub. Hopefully this will help.
