Is it me? Or do Organic Chemist like to get high?

Seems like every time i flip the page in the book, there's another reference to THC. Funny part is, is that in the united states, your not even suppost to be able to study the stuff...

i suspect that chemist are trying to change the outlook of our upcoming scientist, so that in the future, they can be like "hey, why cant we study this shit? i know all about it practialy.."

Even my teacher has used THC as an example atleast 3 times over the first 4 weeks of class.

To say that "in the united states, your (sic) not even supposed to be able to study the stuff", isn't quite right. Obviously, anyone can study the literature that is already out there, and there are actually some primary scientific studies being conducted (other than NIDA), you just need permission.

I've noticed that my chem profs and texts like to use cocaine for examples. It's just a well known molecule that they think will make a memorable example.

just wait until you read a book that isn't organic chemistry, some people solve full scale mockups of THC extractors or membrane separators

The first day of my plant anatomy lab we looked at a cannabis stem under the microscope.

We all were like, "Cannabis? What...?"

I was flipping through my O Chem book and one of the questions in it was:
Classify each of the amine nitrogen in the following substances as primary, secondary, or tertiary:

a)Pyrrolidine
b)Tryptamine
c)Lysergic acid diethylamine

My O chem book has soooo many drug references.

Haha no, it was quite strongly adhered to a slide.  Plus it was probably extremely low quality...and a stem  :ooo:

If we got to look at a pile of buds under the dissecting scope though...those would have been history.
