potato guns were a big deal around milwaukee about 10 years ago... injuries, property damage and general mayhem... the good old days...

When I was around 10 i had one (smart parents i know), and one day my neighbor of around 20 came over to shoot it... After seeing a potato fly around 400 yards he says... "shoot me with it"

At first i thought he was joking... he kept insisting... he was a big guy but there was no way i was gonna shoot him in the chest or the back like he wanted... so he finally convinces me to shoot him in the hand, thinking he's gonna prove how tough he is i guess... i dunno..

So from about 10 inches away i fire the tater... it smacked his hand and exploded everywhere and within seconds it pretty much swelled up into a huge ass bearclaw...

Then i guess he went to his little cousin's birthday party afterwards and the next day at school my friends already knew that i had shot someone with a potato gun and they said it was all black and blue and stuff...

moral: potatoes are potentially dangerous projectiles

Its easy to make spud guns - a bbq ignighter and stuff you can find at any good plumbing store! Then you can just power them with lynx or something.

You americans have it sweet - they are classed as a military grade weapon here, along with an explosive device. You can actually get in serious shit (although that doesnt seem to happen much). I think I did hear of a few people going to jail for it. :shrug:

Good fun though, my friend blasted out a street light from below, it was an awesome shot and he was covered in falling glass and sparks. I shot a possom off a telegraph pole with a plastic bag full of mud (we didnt have any ammo) which was pretty cool!

the milwaukee's best website has a collection of all the videos they made of their beer gun... with footage not included in that compilation. It also has audio of the actual impacts, which makes for some pretty interesting sounds.
