Fun with the BB gun

Check out my bb gun
I bought it on my trip to Spain (they are illegal in Holland). It's semi-automatic with CO2 chargers. It's a lot of fun and I'm quite surprised and a little frightened by the destructive power. I've never fired a real gun before and this is as close as I'll likely get here in Holland.
Does anyone else like BB-guns?

A BB gun with a clip, interesting.
I don't have any of them anymore, but I used to play around with them when I was a lot younger.
I used to have 5-6 of them. Rifles, pistols, etc. Had the co2 ones and the pump ones... The pump ones are more powerful I think. I liked the fact that I didn't have to keep changing the co2 cartridge.

I bet you're kicking yourself that you didn't buy a pound oh hashish in spain, seeing how customs didnt intercept your bb gun
Damn ik wou dat ik die had, mooiman!
Nice thing for target practice, one of the downsides of CO2 pistols is that they're said to make a whole lot of noise, which means you might upset your neighbours. On account of this I would be more interested in an airsoft pistol. These are fully impotent but you don't need (nor want) firepower if all you want to do is shoot at inverted plastic cups.
You now, ofcourse, have to do a penetration test!
Take an old phonebook, open its cover and fire the pistol at it at point blank range. (watch your eyes, you should ALWAYS wear glasses when shooting BB) Then see how many pages you punched through
You're going to be nat als 'n badeend if the cops catch you with this thing, lookalike firearms are almost as illegal as real ones.
Since you never shot anything: you must treat the thing as if its always loaded, to prevent accidents. You can expect it to jam once every so many shots, don't shoot again to "clear the barrel" because then it might never come out. Don't store the pistol pressurized. Point it at an angle to the ground at all times when not taking aim and keep your finger off the trigger until you do. It's *not* a weapon, don't rely on it like such, it's a peashooter which can take an eye out if you're not careful.

Nah I don't need Moroccan hashish. I have 317g of dank sticky homegrown Getting things past Spanish customs isn't hard. We have open borders, and when you're traveling with an organized bus tour they never check. And you can always deny that a certain bag is yours cause it's in there with a lot of other bags.
Thanks for the concern. It makes quite a lot of noise, but I have cool neighbors. You also see the gas discharge (or the condensed water vapor). It reaches 450km/h, at least that's what the manual says. It gets about 60-80 shots from a single tank of CO2. I just tested the penetration, it was 180 pages of teared paper, dented paper continued on much further. It easily breaks beer bottles and almost completely digs itself into a wooden plank.
I'm very careful with the gun. It has a safety lock. I don't wear glasses, but I always shoot at an angle or in the distance to prevent ricochet hitting me. After the last shot I always shoot a blank to make sure the barrel is empty.
I never take it out of the house, so I doubt cops would catch me.

Yes pump are more powerful, they are said to reach transonic speeds. I like the fact that I can shoot fifteen shots without having to reload or pump.
wiki has a nice page on air guns http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_gun

When I was a kid, we used to have BB/Pellet gun wars in the neighborhood. Stupid kids that we were People would always end up getting pellets lodged in them. We were supposed to only pump the guns a couple times, or use a co2 gun that was low on co2, but that didn't always happen. Ended up getting the cops called on us, breaking windows, etc.

Wow, glad you didn't lose an eye. How much flesh damage did a metal CO2 powered BB do?

It would break the skin and get totally lodged in usually. I only got hit a few times by some BBs and once by a pellet, none of which really broke my skin. The most I had was a little welt or something. Some kids ended up getting BBs and pellets lodged in permanently. They didn't want to tell their parents that we were shooting each other, so they just let it heal - some cases with the BB still in their body.

Ouch. Should've gone to a doctor to get those BBs removed
buckwheat, I have another 500 BBs, then I'll probably have to drive to Belgium to buy more or order them online.
ShrooMinToXicate, obviously it's nowhere near as load as a real gun
SpicyTunaRoll, nice gun

Yeah, well I don't actually have any in me, they should have got them taken out probably though.
I do have the tip of a pencil still lodged under my chin though. It happened when I was in 3rd grade or something. Never bothered to get it taken out because it's not even visible really. Doctor said it doesn't really matter anyways.

Pencil tip shouldn't matter. But if the BB inside someone was lead, it would be a good idea to remove it.
