it's easy, just get a shirt, and get it wet, lay it out flat, and pinch in the center, and spin... you eventualy get it to make a disk. put 3 rubber bands around it, to make like pizza slices in it... put orange dye on one side, black dye on the other...

there's more to it than that, like the dye to use and whatnot, but spirals are pretty damn easy... go to the fabrick store and pick up a tie-dye kit, for about 10-20$, that will give you all the basic dye... but if you want orange, you will have to mix yellow and fuschia (red-pink)... or buy a seperate orange dye pack ($5) and you will also need a seperate black, as most kits dont come with black...

P.S Dont use rit dye... it looks like shit and is harder to work with... the dye from the kits come in a squirt bottle, so you apply it directly on the shirt, pretty precise, whereas rit you just dunk it and hope it comes out good.. Rit fades quick... the kit dye actualy bonds to the cloth fibers...

Use Procion fiber reactive dyes. They are bright and permanent and all the pros use them. You can get them from the Dharma trading company or others just do a search. Shirt must be 100 percent natural fiber to work with these dyes. This means cotton, silk, rayon, or wool. Do not try a 50/50 cotton/poly blend. Pre soak the shirt in a soda ash solution. Wring out or spin shirt in the washing machine leaving very damp but not dripping. Lay flat on a table and spin from the center or wherever you wish. I like to use needle nose pliers with electrical tape around the tips to keep from putting holes in the shirt. I recommend painting like a pie in 6 alternating colors. Flip with newspaper and repeat on the other side. Since you want Orange and Purple which are both secondary colors try to leave a little space between the pie wedges so there is not a lot of brown created along the bleed lines.
