Drum machines, and other stuff

So can anyone tell me the name of a good FREE(or easy to download) drum machine???

I make guitar based music mostly, but I would like a drum machine that works well for ambient electronic music as well.

That being said, I know for the electronic music I should be using something other then adobe audition, but what?
I see so many choices, and it gets pretty confusing, so what would you suggest??

Drum machine, and electronic music programs???
(also, I see all these plug ins, I assume some of them work with these programs?? VST? )
(and I know it takes time to make something cool, and this will be hard to describe , but I want to be able to use layers ,upon layers unpon layers, or drums, subtle drums, thundering drums, i want it all baby!!n  :laugh:)

You using a sequencer?

If so look into battery 2 by native instruments. Im using it right now and its easy as shit to use. Only thing is you have to load samples of drums into the software.

To get extra drumkits on Hydrogen, for Windows you'll need to use this workaround with 7-zip.
