Holiday in 3 provinces and the Rockies!(pics included)

I'm back from a 7 day excursion that totalled about 3300 km (many long long drives through the canadian terrain).  I really wanted to share what some people never see.

I started out in PG, BC and travelled to Regina, SK for thansgiving dinner with my gf's parents.  Stayed there for about 4 days and then headed to Calgary, AB.  There, I went to the famous zoo, but got there to late and only saw like 20% of it.  We ended up coming back the next day and took lots of pictures.








This one's pretty funny  :grin:

Then from there, we headed up to Edmonton where I was SUPPOSED to have a wild night with some friends.  We ended up just going to the Casino, I won a bunch of money, had a couple drinks and my friends decided to bitch out.  So since we didn't get to really see the zoo we decided to go back.  So that night, I drove to Red Deer, spent the night and drove to Calgary in the morning.  After the Zoo, we headed towards Banff.  Ended up staying in a hotel just before banff.  The next day, stopped in Banff(beautiful place btw) and took the Gondola to the top of a mountain.  Took more pictures...(these were taken today)









That was today.  And after we got down, headed back to PG via the Icefields highway(very very scenic).  This is a pic of the actual landmark.



I took MANY more really great pictures of the scenery, the zoo and whatnot, but already hit my limit...but a new day...here's some more.














I have to recommend the Calgary Zoo.  Just amazing.  Each "continent" has it's own weather conditions, plant life and animals.  It's just surreal.  I really enjoyed walking into the rainforest and seeing Gorillas and whatnot.

Wow. Been a long time since I have been in a mountain area like that, out west. I miss the far scenic views and conifer trees :grin:

Yeah, it was quite amazing. I toked up just before the Gondola ride...and once at the top, I had to hike a shitload of walkways and stairs to get to the highest point(where most of the pictures were taken).

When I was up there, a crowd was just leaving. I got to sit there and have an incredible silence and just take it all in.

If any of you ever get the chance to travel western canada, you MUST take the icefield highway from Banff to Jasper. It is the most incredible scenic drive. Great people, things to do, places to stay.
