Torre Out of New York, Into Chicago?
    #6147235 -

So the never-ending MLB Rumor Grist Mill has spit out the intriguing nugget that says Joe Torre might be fired by the New York Yankees in favor of Lou Pinella. The same report has the Chicago Cubs interested in his services.

I dont believe a second of this. I wouldnt doubt that Steinbrenner is dumb enough to fire Torre, but I cant see the Cubs being interested him. He's a good coach, but I doubt he's the right person to coach here. And since when is Lou Pinella such a good coach? I wouldnt want him either, I'd much rather have Joe than Lou.

I hope the cubs get girardi and pass on pinella & torre. they are both overrated (torre being the most overrated manager in recent history).

Girardi would be a great pickup for the Cubs and I believe he grew up a Cubs fan too...

Piniella is a dickhead.

YOu have to flame the team, not the person.

I got a warning in this forum for playfully telling Redstorm that I eat pieces of shit like him for breakfast...an obvious reference to Happy Gilmore.  :tongue2:

spelled that a wee bit wrong. I think he was flaming him based on his actual opinion of what he is being, a noob media whore. I think he had grounds for such thing, but it isnt my call. I couldnt have though of a better way to say it. Yankees will lose with piniella too. I hope they never win another playoff series until they develop a farm system.

i did though. it wasnt super harsh flaming by any means(whore isnt that bad and was only said once). it was on topic since this whole topic is based on media speculation. and the sports forum is a sub-forum of OTD. So are you saying keep in the OTD forum and not its subforum?

heh, seems like you are the only one who is angry here. we are all merely joking, mr.mod. yeah i got the whole "media" joke....it wasnt funny. but anywho, steinbrenner and torre are lovebuddies but steinbrenner doesnt have a problem firing anybody. If someone puts up as much damn money as steinbrenner does, the manager should be able to do the rest. Im not saying go buy every player that is hot in the league. im saying assemble a team that can play well with each other and develop a farm system. If your team is desperate for an ace than by all means go find a promising young talent. same with any position. Dont just buy the all-star team and expect they will mesh.

The Yankees' farm system is quite good at the moment, actually, and they're harvesting from it..
