Looks like wetspot to me, aka bacillus contam (?). If that's the case, just toss it.

this spot was actually there right after boiling. the jar has colonized fine and very quickly(PR, btw). im just wondering what to do if if does not colonize. could i cut it out? ill give the jar an extra week after the outside is 100% colonized.

I'd cut it out. Just sterilize a spoon and use it to scoop that portion out.

Often, when the mycelium consolidates the rest of the substrate, it will have the strength to overcome the bacteria and colonize that section. I agree it looks like bacillus.

hmmm. i hope it's not in the center of the jar. it's colonizing very quickly. should i just put it aside and birth when/if this area is colonized?

No need to put it aside. Bacillus won't spread jar to jar.
