ID Help
    #6132142 -

Hi. I have a couple of shrooms I found in a woodland in Upstate SC.

Yellow Mushroom-
Found along side of horse trail in a woodland habitat with no underbrush.
Stands at about 10in.
Long, over-lapping white gills.
Large white spores on yellow cap.
Diameter of cap: 7in.

White Mushroom:
Found in same area.
Found with another mushroom of smaller size
Stands about 5-6 in tall
short white gills
large stipple like spore on 4 in diameter white cap.

They are both some type of amanita. the yellow one kind of looks like a amanita muscaria BUT you can't be too sure. The rings around the base of the stalk don't look large enough to be a amanita muscaria. i would get more oppinions on it.

as for the white one, it should immediately be considered deadly poison.  :psychsplit:

Dude, those aren't spores on top of the cap. They are remnants of a universal veil. In order to determine the color of the spores you have to place the cap, gills down, on a piece of paper, tin-foil or glass. For those mushrooms, which I think are Amanitas, you would not want to use white paper because the spores that drop from the gills should be white. Welcome to the Shroomery!

The first one looks like a light muscaria.

Take a look at this picture from the wikipedia artical on muscaria
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...a_americana.jpg

But wait for someone with more expriance before trying it out.
