Since it has been known to grow on grass seed. I'm thanking that it would grow on popcorn because its an type of grass.

I know you can case it and fruit. Not so sure about clerotia though. I would go for rye persionally

I was thanking of a seed thats safe to eat.I just can't see eating lawn seed. P. Rye lawn grass or Rye the grain seed.

I believe that retro killa is mistaken.

the topic here is Mexicana, not the mexican cubensis.

PF tek is a horrible suggestion for mexicana due to the vermiculite.

Mexicana is known for it's sclerotia formations.
Use RYE grass seed or RYE berries (winter RYE) to grow sclerotia.

do you have a problem with rye bread?
why would you have a problem with eating rye berries or rye flour?

never use anything in a mexicana substrate that you wouldn't eat.
therefore do not use vermiculite, poo, or any of that stuff.

just soak your rye berries (grain) in a weak coffee solution for
hydration.

you can go from inoculation to harvest of sclerotia in a couple/few months.

pretty much set it and forget it. Keep temps correct (lower than cubes)
and make sure there is a gas exchange provision.

I would not use popcorn for mexicana.
actually, I would not use popcorn at all.
