As for Mel Brooks, "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein," and the "Producers" are my favorites. His homage to Hitchcock, "High Anxiety," didn't do it for me...

And pretty much any of the "Thin Man" films with William Powell, Myna Loy, and their dog, Asta. I have a real soft spot for that crime-solving couple and their crazy canine.

I watched Hoodwinked yesterday at work.
It's a modern, digi-animation take on the little red riding hood fairy tale.
Really clever and mildly funny stuff.
When it gets busy on fridays and saturdays, I have concert DVDs I can bring from home.
If I can't pay attention to a plot line, then I might as well have some music flowing from the speaker.  :headbang:

I have over 350 DVDs in my collection now, and they really run the gamut; from expensive Criterion Collection restored foreign classics, to cheesy American International B-movie "biker flicks" from the sixties, and to stuff that's just absolute junk, but it was cheap at the pawn-shop. I really love movies.

I just found out that the distributor, Janus, is releasing a boxed set of 50 of their classic foreign films for $699.00, but I have mixed feelings on this, as I already own a number of the films in this collection, and it's a fuck of a lot of money to spend on low-def, with hi-def on the horizon. Hence, I think I'll wait on that one...

Unfortunately, this coming Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD format battle is going to make my life very complicated in the next few years, as I start to upgrade into hi-def. I'm hoping that Blu-Ray will dominate, as it has higher storage, and the PS3 is going to play Blu-Ray discs -- I've been using my second generation PS2 as my main DVD player for the last two years, and it's the been best DVD player I've ever owned (very few skips or dropouts; and it plays damn near every disc I cram into its gaping maw).

Oh, any concert DVD. Especially Led Zeppelin. And Pink Floyd's The Wall. Two stoner/tripper must-haves. And if they have Da Ali G show episodes, just steal those, because they are hilarious. And any Hayao Miyazaki movie, like Princess Mononke or Howls Moving Castle.
