Jenny has the right idea. Get some kind of practical education in a field with high demand. And no you cant just get jobs you think will be funny.

Go to a trade school and become and electrician or a plummer. You will make decent cash and have lots of job opportunities. Shit a friend of mine is a painter and he makes a lot of dough, though most of it is under the table. There are also always a lot of demand for people who are willing to work with elderly people. Rough hours but decent pay when you do night shifts.

Underwater welding etc is a rough gig and you need to be an awesome welder even before you start thinking about doing underwater stuff.

I always check out sites such as Monster.com and other recruiting sites, then basically just send out mass amounts of resumes with minor changes in each one to fit the particular job im applying for. If i go in for it i can easily land a couple of on location interviews a week if im not being to picky.

Experiment with different styles of CV. Sometimes i do funny ones, and sometimes i do professional by the book resumes. Don't worry about lying either. Everyone does it, just don't get caught.

I had a friend put up as a reference for an employment i never really had at his dads company once. I just told him what to say in case they would call him up. fortunately i don't have to lie anymore since my CV is starting to look respectable on its own.
