I was talkin to a friend on aim and he said "hurry up _____" and began to read my ip address Im curious how he knew so easy and what damage can you do with knowing it?

It's easy to do.

If you make a direct connection with them, just go to cmd and type in netstat

Or you could probably use a packet analyzer, like ethereal.

Did you try asking him? There are a lot of different ways to do it, it's pretty basic shit.

Well, since it's using port 1042, that means it's coming from a trojan called BLAtrojan.

And the IP is from AOL, in Washington, DC.

That's about the best I can do for you right now.

Nah, it's coming from AOL, somewhere.

The last router it gets to is from the atdn.net domain, which is the AOL Transit Data Network.

You might want to call their abuse number (1-703-265-4670) and tell them someone from that IP (172.129.117.17) is participating in malicious activities, they will have records of who that person is.

eh, maybe, but it probably came from an address scan. Pinging a list of IP ranges and seeing what comes back, then running some port scans to see what you have open.
