Why is it colonizing so slow?

My friend has a strain of PESA's colonizing in PF style jars. They were innoculated on 3/17 and as of yet some have about half way to colonize. The temp in the incubator is 84 degree's. What could be possible causes for the slow colonization?

maybe a build up of co2. i would try to flip the jars for a day or two then flip back over to try and dissipate the co2 buildup
