I've ordered some poo from Tennstud but it's been over 2 weeks and I have not heard from him... I understand his product development is dependent on the weather, volume of orders etc. and I'm sure he gets a bizillion e mails a day and 1 man can only do so much but my fridge is filling up with jars... I NEED POOP!!! Has anyone ever had good results subbing out pasteurized cow poop available at garden centers for any of Mike's products?

What many growers don't understand is that cow/steer manure is actually higher in nitrogen than horse manure. Horse manure simply works better solo because of its texture. Just mix some bagged cow manure with coir for texture and a bit of verm to also help break it up. Worm castings are also an excellent additive, as is your left over coffee grinds after brewing. The more you put into your substrate, the better. Use 5% to 10% gypsum by volume. Pasteurize and use. RR

I'm a horticulturist and mycology isn't my area of expertise but using higher nitrogen fertilizer on plants increases the chance of "burning" when watering isn't on a regular schedule like in a green house or on irrigation... does this apply to mushrooms as well?

Over 2.7N, indeed it will impede growth. Sometimes to a fatal stop.

RR,
There is probably a simple answer I am over looking, but... Where do you get Gypsum? I've searched google but have only come up with drywall and Gypsum ceiling tiles.

gypsum is usually available in the garden supply section of most home improvement stores.
it is used to help break up clay heavy soil.
be careful though, some have other things added, like fertilizers.

Thanks for the gypsum info!
tommythehort, sorry, didn't mean to thread-jack. But I will contribute. I have heard good thinks about Black Kow brand cow poo. At least for outdoor patches. I haven't tried it, though.

Most orders are going out on time. A few have been delayed for various reasons. I don't think I've left anyone hanging with no response for 2 weeks however. There are alot of shipments going out today. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Just so everyone knows... I heard back from good ol' Mike... and just like I knew he would he is coming through, unusual circumstances were the cause of the delay, no need to worry and I will continue to patronize his business. And yes, that is a run on sentence.
Thanks man!!
