To tell you the truth I have not gotten any negative feedback on any of my products that were used after sitting around for several weeks. However, I do consider my product semi-perishable due to the pasteurization process. I just feel the earlier you use it the better. Fresh is always preferable.
I'm more concerned with the 50/50 Mix because of the straw. From my experience straw tends to contaminate easier than poo. But like I said before--no negative feedback.
As far as re-pasteurization is concerned, I guess you could do that with either product if you really felt the need. Nutrition loss would depend on your pasteurization methodology (water-vs-oven). I still recommend using it as quickly as possible.

Yeah I caught that, I just let it slide. I knew what he was meaning to say. But you are correct--I sell pasteurized substrate as well as unpasteurized dehydrated substrate.

The Unpasteurized Dry Substrate will yield about 3X the initial amount after proper hydration. So 5lb. will get you 15lb., 10lb will get you 30lb., etc. If you want to make your own 50/50 mix get half the amount of Shredded Straw (2.5lb) per 5lb of Dry Substrate, this will give you equal volume. Yes you will save substantial $$$ if you pasteurize yourself.
