If you can't find polyfil, try to get some micropore tape and tape over the tyvek after you inject through it.

I just use a round Band-Aid to cover up the hole. They come sterile and I have never had any contam problems because of it.

Actually, it was polyfill that replaced cotton, which growers used for decades. Cotton works great, however it must be kept totally dry at all times. Polyfill, which is synthetic, is a bit more forgiving. RR

I'm not doubting it RR, but for the application he's talking about, the cotton won't stay dry due to the PC'ing of the jar.

It will dry out once the foil is removed. The original spawn bags were always sealed with a cotton plug, then pc'd. Some growers in asia still use that system. I do agree however that polyfill is a better choice, being non-organic. RR

actually, is polyfill even necessary? I mean, cant i just poke a hole and use two pieces of foil just like the PF Tek? if i poke the hole right in the center, then i will know right where to stick the needle and everything should stay sterile.
