how well does the peurto ricans pinn/fruit

First off I am a beginner, but I have learned alot off this site.
well my problem is ( or may not be a problem) that I have several rice cakes of the puerto rican strain, they are fully colonized, off of the pf tek with brown rice/vermiculate. I took the colonized cakes and pur them into a strofoam cooler with an ultrasonic humidifier. The temp and the relative humidity are both at the right levels. So basically they are not pinning, necessarily, there are big bumps growing all over the rice cakes. I have an equador also, but that is pinning with thin strands. I am aware that the puerto ricans fruit/pinn slowly. What I want to know is that are the bumps the begining of abhorts, or is something wrong. Advice or expeiriences with puerto ricans would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I checked them out this morning and there are blue/brown dots on the top of some of the bumps. So we will see.
Thanks

This PR cake pinned about 11 days after birth.
The bumps and balls that formed on the cake just ended up as bumps and balls...
About 10 days to pin and 10 days to mature from what I've heard.

thanks for the info, and that's a good pic. You have some good pins on that cake. I hope soon I get more pins, but the bumps are growing in size and number. So something must be working right. Did you just cold shock yours really good, with high humidity, and about 12 hrs a day of light. That's what I am doing to try and make them pin.

those bumps you are seeing are called primordia, or hyphal knots... which is the beginning stage of a pin.. the little brown dots on them are what will soon become the caps.. its all good

I got 2 PR i inoculated feb 15th and i got them in a hydro pod type thingy. they've been in it for about 3 weeks now and all there are is big blobs of white and nothing else. will they pin anytime this year? i'm about to throw them out the window and start over cause it's goin on 2 months now since i started these cakes and that is just ridiculous that they havent even started pinning. i got lots of moisture and lots of fresh air to them and florescent lights. growing chamber is perfect but these cakes are just being really gay to say the least. Oh Yea the mycelium is colonizing my lava rocks i'm using to set them on. I also poored some peroxide into the water because i got some contaminates on one cake i'm about ready to say fuck i'm just kinda bitter about all the work and money and NO pay off. start over or wait??

They IMO have not been domesticated enough yet to make a reliable judgement on how well they grow. Too many mixed results yet but when they do pinn, so far in many substrates they have a massive pinn set and pinn in groups. The fruit that do successfully mature to textbook style are heavy and thick with nice deep conical caps and are a very pretty fruit.

have you tried cold shocking them. I am sure you have, but puerto ricans pin at like 72-76. I noticed a complete difference the next morning. At first there was nothing, then when I woke up I noticed primordia (thanks pavlovs dog), or white bumps all over it. But the pins are slow to start and slow to form.

It was dunked in skim milk for awhile and then put into an upside down 2-quart jar with a hole in the lid to drain CO2, the jars were fanned and misted about 3 times a day. I don't think much light is required to get the cake to pin. It might be a good idea to use a rehydration tek.
